Why did fsuipc jack up my FS2004 and what is fsuipc anyway?

Featured Replies

I installed FS 2004 and am in the process of downloading the PMDG 737 NG. I screwed up somewhere along the way and am in the process of re-downloading everything. After a failed attempt at installing that plane, I got a message that my version of fsuipc was incompatable. The simulation crashed to desktop. I un-installed it and reinstalled and the same thing happened. Any thoughts as to how to at least bring FS 2004 back to life? Rob Randazzo is displaying superhuman patience in helping me with the 737 issue. I also thank a bunch of other folks who have made very ueful suggestions along the way. What is fsuipc anyway.Jim(technically challenged in Denver)[email protected]

FSUIPC is a piece of software that makes some of the sim variables(such as airspeed, lat/lon) values available to software such as the NG; these variables can be read and written to. Mostly this software covers areas that the SDK has left out(at least, this is my undestanding) This is very helpful ;-)About your FSUIPC compatability, do you have the proper version of FSUIPC for your sim? ;-) Sorry for asking such a basic question

To find out if you have the proper version, look in FS9Modules for a file named FSUIPC.dll.Right-click on it and then click properties. Somehwere on there you should see the version number. If you have installed the SU1 update, then you should have version 3.0.3, I believe. Hopefully this can at least get you started on troubleshooting the problem.Regards,Jimmy Richards
