    Never mind.  I just moved the Legacy Scenery slider two clicks to the left (well, all the way to the left) as suggested by Danny and that is the fix.

    Do you have the Vista version of the Uiautomationcore.dll in your main fsx folder?  Your crash report does not show that it loaded.  I heard from other Sources that the Uiautomationcore.dll is not compatible with Windows 8.

    You have FSX SP2 installed.  Before installing SP2, did you install FSX then run FSX for at least one time, then install SP1 and run FSX at least once, then installed SP2?  If not, then you should uninstall SP2, then SP1, run FSX, then install SP1, run FSX, then install SP2.  If you did all of that did you change the default startup.  If so this is probably the problem as your new default install is looking for an aircraft, a situation, and cannot find it in the location it is suppose to be located.

    If you have your FSX settings set too high, fsx will not load too.

    Since you were able to start up in Safe Mode, this indicates to me to be a driver issue, most likely your video card driver.  When you go into safe mode, almost all of the drivers are not loaded including your Nvidia drivers (Windows uses a VGA driver).  So look at that for a possible solution.

  3. Jim Young's post in FSX freezes mid flight was marked as the answer
    Check to see if there are any entries in your Event Viewer relating to the freezes.  The fsuipc module log (in the Module folder if you have fsuipc installed) also has information about a crash and will issue warnings about running out of memory.  You need to check that log as you could have been running out of memory and did not know it.

    You can have six (6) activations of FSDT Products every 90 days not for the lifetime of the product -http://www.fsdreamteam.com/faq.html.  You can deactivate and then activate too which does not count against the activations.  It's explained in each manual that comes with the product.

    The PMDG 777 can be reinstalled as many times as you want.  You should uninstall it though as it will automatically deactivate if you are connected to the Internet.  Use the Add/Remove program feature for Windows.  You can then reinstall to a new system.  This is explained in the Introduction manual released with the PMDG777.

    Unfortunately, with all the Windows Security coming out it is wise to Run as Administrator for everything you install on your computer whether you have UAC turned off or not.  You are another individual who has installed their FSX in a non-default directory to avoid things like this and I've been saying it doesn't matter where you install software.  Most of the individuals who post crashes here have their FSX in a non-default directory.  I have mine in the default directory.

    Thanks for letting us know how you resolved this problem.  Perhaps it will help others.

    Agree with Shamrock727, you need to post your crash report using the AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html

    Do you install fsx or did you move it from a backup program?  FSX will not start up if it does not have Microsoft Visuals C++ 2005 with SP1 installed.  It will not be installed if you brought FSX from a backup program.

    Download Ohio again and compared with the other downloads I had made and they replaced Installer 7.  This file was the only difference (larger) than previous downloads.  Reinstalled #7 and now the problem is fixed.

    This is normal.  When you lock your FPS at 30, you hope it will stay there during most of the flight but it's nearly impossible to maintain 30 fps because of various factors such as commercial scenery, commercial aircraft, time of day and real weather.  If you have all of your sliders to the left then you'll have graphics anomalies and your FSX will not look very good.  Even at the default settings (the settings FSX provided you when you first installed FSX and ran FSX for the first time) are better than all the sliders to the left but it will also produce anomalies. When you are flying at FL200, you should be getting at least 60 fps even in a commercial aircraft.  As you descend and land or takeoff at a commercial airport, your fps will easily drop to near single digits. Pinned at the top of this forum is the excellent AVSIM Software and Hardware Guide which is constantly updated.  It provides some settings and tweaks you can employ to make fsx run better.  The settings and tweaks do not work for every system, especially the BufferPool tweak.

    Hope you have better success after setting up your FSX and display driver settings via the AVSIM guide.

    Make sure none of the remnants of SweetFX was left in the Main FS9 folder.  If it is happening during startup of FS9, then there is something in the main FS9 folder or in the FS9.cfg triggering the error.  Try to rename your FS9.cfg, restart FS9 and see if this fixes the problem.  If not, rename the old fs9 config back to what you had before.  There should not be a d3d9.dll in the main FS9 folder or any .ini.

    The default FFTF is 0.33.  Affinity Mask=224 is totally way too high.  Should be 14.  How did you come up with 224? Do you know what it does to your computer?  WideViewAspect in Display should be True as it appears your monitor is wide screen.  Autogen density should be no higher than 3 (Normal).  Major FPS killer.  Like me, you could try the following lines in your Terrain section then, I think, it would be okay for max autogen:

    TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=1000
    TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=800

    Wrong Bufferpool settings cause a lot of CTD's.  I would remove it.  It does not work for everyone.

    Your MS Visual C++ Redistributable 2005 is not completely up-to-date.  Here is the latest version - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347.

    Glad to hear the BEX/StackHash fix worked.  So far you are the first one.  Your high and, in some cases bad tweak settings in your FSX.cfg probably are causing FSX to hang.

    Your MSV C++ 2005 is not completely up-to-date.  Here's the latest version - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347.  This MSV is very important as it is used for FSX/Acceleration installations.  Run Windows update and look in the Options tab to make sure you have all of the latest updates.  Usually Microsoft update will place an update to an MSV or dotnet in the optional section for installation and will not automatically install it.

    MSV 2008 and 2010 did not load.  Check to make sure they are install via the Add/Remove Program.  The programs should have loaded.  That might be the problem as one of your programs was looking for the 2008 version (which would have been MSVCR90.dll), could not find it so loaded the only one available (MSVCR80.dll - which belongs to MSV2005) and crashed.

    A couple of your FS programs that loaded have been known to cause problems in fsx.  The CS757 and the AEModule.  Absolutely no indications whatsoever it caused this crash though.

    You also had a BEX (Buffer Exception Overrun) which is usually caused by high FSX/display driver settings.  A possible solution is right here near your post - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/403927-hooray-instructions-to-get-no-more-dep-induced-bev-or-stack-errorscrashes/.

  12. Jim Young's post in CTD caused by gdiplus.dll on fresh install was marked as the answer
    There's an AVSIM Software and Hardware guide pinned at the top of the FSX Forum which provides excellent tweaks and settings for your FSX.cfg as well as your display driver settings.  I would go there first.  The key to tweaking is to understand the tweak before you put it there.  Some of the tweaks, like the Bufferpool, do not work on every system and will in fact bring your system down if not set properly.  I don't use it and have great frames (away from payware airports and most of the time).  Display settings are important too as they can slow down your CPU if set too high and require too many resources.  The one "tweak" that is almost mandatory is not really a tweak at all - the highmemfix=1 fix in the Graphics section of your fsx.cfg.  This fix was suppose to be added with Acceleration/SP2 but I understand Microsoft forgot to add it.  Just take your time and be conservative.  I have found the less stress placed on your CPU/GPU, the faster the textures will render, the better quality of the graphics, and less stuttering.

    There's another one that says that SweetFX has been upgraded to 1.4 - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/402970-new-version-14-sweetfx-is-out/.  I just did a fsx forum search for SweetFX and there are several posts now discussing this topic.  Using the search function in the FSX forum will be your best option.  Just type SweetFX in the search box and hit the return (don't click on Google).
