May 13, 200323 yr ( not concerned about realism )- In and effort to get more jets landing and taking off when I am departing or arriving.I think that departures will regenerate according to the REPEAT setting and thus there will always be a good chance of a few - severaldepartures when I start up at a gate. But what would happen with arrivals ? I have a nice variety of airliners/aircraft in my major airport flight plans ( albeit cobbled together ) - probably about 60 plans perairport. I just want to have the take off and land more frequently without building new plans.Any thoughts? Thanks,Myles
May 14, 200323 yr Arrivals don't always behave well on startup, even with the appropriate repeat intervals for the distance travelled and aircraft speed. FS2002 starts the arriving aircraft at their specified flight level, so they are often too high and moving too fast for a proper approach, and they end up crashing or going missed. With abnormally short repeat intervals, you may find that you end up with a lot of this happening, even later in the flight as the planes are regenerated around your destination airport.I try to add more traffic in short hops rather than cross-country or transoceanic routes. Also, I use a lot of regionals to keep the flights shorter. I also try to stagger my departures so there are always a few planes taxiing around. The other day I was flying out of Vienna, Austria and I was about number 6 for takeoff, with a couple of arrivals on the same runway. That was too much traffic for me (I took the time to get a beer) but it's probably more realistic.
May 14, 200323 yr Author You'll have a lot more departures, but not really any more arrivals for the first 10-20 minutes after loading the airport - takes them that long to arrive at the airport.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
