April 26, 200323 yr i was just on a site that gave all kinds of technical info about airports and i noticed that KBOS mentioned that they might use different runways throughout the day, but once it gets dark, just the 15R/33L runway is in use (15R for arrivals and 33L for departures).don't tell me that aitm or afcad are able to switch runways to others when it gets dark?now that would truly be "as real as it gets".
April 27, 200323 yr That would be a neat trick...dont think that one is able to be done. :)[div align=center][link:www.jetdoc.com/bks.html]Visit The Bookstore & Gift Shoppe][/b
April 27, 200323 yr I don't believe it. 15R and 33L are the same physical runway in opposite directions. There is no way they're going to use 15R for arrivals and 33L for departures at the same time.KBOS has a long history of combat between the airport and the local community over noise and traffic levels. It wouldn't surprise me if the "after dark" runway usage is really a noise abatement procedure.
April 29, 200323 yr Author I'm sure it is noise abatement. LAX does something very similar, so takeoffs and landings are over the ocean. Kind of scary seeing planes take off and land in opposite directions - just like FS using real weather! :)--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
