March 3, 20242 yr I uninstalled AutoOrtho. I deleted all traces of AutoOrtho files/directories from the PC I cleaned the registry I rebooted. Installed Dokan Installed AutoOrtho 0.7.2 Directories to XP12 are set correctly for the root of XP12 and the custom scenery folder. I created folders for the cache and downloads outside of XP12. I run AutoOrtho and watch it download z_na_00.zip to z_na_35.zip. I see y_na_overlays.zip After downloading the last file (z_na_35.zip) the button to the right of the north America Ortho Set just shows 'working' The message at the bottom of the window still shows 'downloading' The window stays like this forever, with no indication that anything is finished. There are two folders created in XP12 Custom Scenery folder - yAutoOrtho_Overlays & z_autoortho but the contents do not match what I have seen should be in those folders. If I click on 'Run' in AutoOrtho, I get a message that z_na_0 'doesn't look right', AutoOrtho then closes I have gone through this routine several times with the same result. Anybody had something similar to this when trying to install? I have been away from XP12 for nearly a year, but I have kept it up to date with updates. With 12.01 being released soon, I have been impressed with the promised additions and wanted to start using it again. March 3, 20242 yr Hi Mr BitstFlyer, It does take a while for the zip files to unzip. I found winfsp to be a useful addition. It would go at the bottom of your config file: [windows] prefer_winfsp = True I found at times that autoortho would not load because of a problem with the "na" files. Just starting X-Plane again brings up autoortho ok. I have had similar frustrations, but most of my flights with autoortho have shown a marked improvement in ground graphics. I hope this will be of some help. Jim Morgan

Thanks, I think you are right - I've had it running for about six hours with no change to what AutoOrtho is showing in its window. I have opened the folders within XP12 and I can see files still being written! I kept assuming it had crashed! March 4, 20242 yr If you go into the .autoortho-data folder and select "downloads" you can see some of the action there. That's in the "users" folder. All of the zip files will go there. When done if they do not unzip in a few minutes just select ''run" and it will take a while for the process. In the Custom Scenery folder it will start to show. When all of the files are unzipped a check will follow and eliminate the zip files. j Edited March 4, 20242 yr by jcjimmy punctuation Jim Morgan

March 4, 20242 yr Author No wonder I thought it was not working - it has been installing for 24 hours and it looks to be about 30% done. It is currently working on the z-na-10 folder and there's 35 z-na folders! March 4, 20242 yr That seems awfully slow. I seem to recall AO taking some time to finish installing the NA base scenery but certainly not 24+ hours. Have you checked your storage drive for errors/early signs of failure (an increase in the logged number of S.M.A.R.T. errors for example)?
