For those of you who flew Heli in XP11 what is your impression of it in XP12?  I have CowanSim 206B3 that has been updated for XP12 Beta 4.  I don't have dedicated Heli equipment, just using a simple Thrustmaster hotas ONE with centering spring removed from joystick.  I am finding it extremely challenging and difficult to land on a small platform/helipad.

I am trying to follow all the recommendation speed, procedure etc.  It gets a bit easier with VR with depth perception but not by much.  What is surprising is same setup and Heli, it is many times easier in other sim. 

Is Heli sim in XP12 a no go without dedicated equipment (collective with a wide range) or are thing still being looked at by LR? Sadly I don't see myself purchasing 2 grand worth of hardware to do precision landing.

Hallo, Im flying several Helis in X-Plane 12. Their, for me, is no great difference to XP11. Im flying with Saitek X45 without spring.

MSFS by default has a lot of "make it super simple options" that need disabling to be remotely realistic, can't comment how realistic it gets when they are because I binned windows a decade ago, probably not.

XP12 is pretty much perfect, with one exception, I posted a fix here:

will of course also depend on the aircraft dev's to.

I don't know how realistic helis are in any of the sims I've flown since I've never flown IRL and have no basis for comparison (ignorance is bliss!), but I will say this: the way the heli moves when he takes over the controls very much mimics the way it moves when I take over the controls 😄 Very tough!
