Aerial refueling with PMX - how to see the whole drogue or boom

Hello @ll,

I have seen a few videos and screenshots made by people using PMX for aerial refueling. It is quite common that the probe&drogue or the flying boom are "clipped" - the visual model is cut off at a certain distance from your viewpoint.

To improve this, change the "ClipMode" parameter for your VC camera.

Here is how to do that for the default setup:

  1. Find your cameras.cfg here: C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\
  2. Open the file with a text editor capable of processing the UTF-16 character encoding and make your VC camera definition look like this (Clipmode is the only change):

[CameraDefinition.002]
Title = "Virtual Cockpit"
Guid = {C95EAB58-9E4A-4E2A-A34C-D8D9D948F078}
Description = This is the description of the virtual cockpit view.
Origin = Virtual Cockpit
SnapPbhAdjust = Swivel
SnapPbhReturn = No
PanPbhAdjust = Swivel
PanPbhReturn = No
Track = None
ShowAxis = Yes
AllowZoom = Yes
InitialZoom = 0.70
SmoothZoomTime = 2.00
ShowWeather = Yes
XyzAdjust = Yes
ShowLensFlare=No
Category = Cockpit
MomentumEffect = Yes
ZoomPanScalar = 1.0
PitchPanRate = 30.0
HeadingPanRate = 75.0
Panacceleratortime = 0.0
HotKeySelect = 1
Clipmode=Minimum

Save the file and restart your sim.

Now your refueling should look like this:

Best regards
