July 3, 201312 yr Hello, I remember reading a long time ago that this can be done. I'm trying to use the same procedures of my old airline. Can this be done? And if so can someone explain to me how to do it? Thanks, Reik Namreg
July 3, 201312 yr What is the real world procedure for aircraft that have their Landing Lights on the retractable Nosewheel gear. ie King Air, etc Surely they are not expected to keep their gear down (with Landing Lights on), up to 10,000ft ?
July 3, 201312 yr What is the real world procedure for aircraft that have their Landing Lights on the retractable Nosewheel gear. ie King Air, etc... Surely they are not expected to keep their gear down (with Landing Lights on), up to 10,000ft ? The Jetstream 41 has taxi and landings lights on the gear, so BAe added "conspicuity lights" in the wings which you operate like landing lights to ensure you're visible. Not entirely sure of the logic behind this, since it means you have an extra set of bulbs that need replacing  ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
July 3, 201312 yr Lights on below 10,000 is basically a rule to enhance traffic recognition. This is the area with the most dense traffic. Some areas around the world highly encourage lights on below 18,000. There are areas around the African continent that encourage lights on at cruise(mainly areas with no ATC/Radar control). This is all dependent on the aircraft type. One jet I used to fly had a speed limit on the lights. The lights were retractable. We would extend/retract them passing 250kts. Some aircraft only have lights on the landing gear as you stated, so you would not have them available. The Gulfstream 5/550 landing lights will automatically extinguish at 18,000ft if left on above 10,000. They will turn on at 18,000 if you never turn them off. Rick D http://g5flyer.tumblr.com/
July 3, 201312 yr Author At my old airline the procedure was to turn them off climbing through 18,000ft and back on descending through 18,000ft. I know I read it somewhere that it can be changed through fs2crew but can't find it. Reik Namreg
