October 27, 201213 yr Commercial Member Just bought this product, installed and then configured it following what manual told me to do and I have FSUIPC registered version installed & UAC off and FSX installed to D:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Opus installed to D:\OpusFSX I'm using Windows 7 64 bit Home. However for some reason it isn't downloading and adding life weather to my FSX. According spy function it detects that my FSX is running and what aircraft i'm using, however it doesn't download weather or do anything. Any idea what could cause this?
October 27, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member Never mind, it seems to work now. So far the weather I have experienced has been better than ever with AS2012.
October 28, 201213 yr I'm having the same trouble. Can you recall anything specific that you did to correct it? The "spy" window says connected to sim, but there's a line that reads "air file not identified" or something like that. Any clues that might help me?
October 28, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member Well, at first it was installed to D:\OpusFSX, I went and uninstalled and then reinstalled it to C:\OpusFSX, not sure if that fixed it though but now it seems to load weather normally.
October 28, 201213 yr Commercial Member Check your drive and folder sharing and permissions. OpusFSX needs to access your sim's installation folder. Consult the Getting Started guide for Single PCs, you probably need to share your FSX installation drive and folder, and set security permissions to Everyone. After that you should not get any messages on running the FSXSERVER program and the weather will load in a few seconds after your flight is loaded. Of course, OpusFSX MUST be installed into its own folder and this must exist on only one drive. Also download the latest beta zip file, consult our Flight1 Announcements topic, extract the files into your OpusFSX install folder and away you go. Any problems just ask and someone will help, me or Cheryl if we are online, but we are both recovering from the flu at the moment so we may not be online all day. Regards Stephen
September 30, 201312 yr Can someone provide info....... During FSX flight, the Opus FSI server will exit out by itself, weather info disappears from the Add-Ons menu and i'm not getting the live weather update automatically. I have to open up the FSI server, go to weather and click update weather and it will install it. I don't see anything on the PDF document about this.... Thanks, Kin M. (Klax)
October 1, 201312 yr Hi, I was just about to post about the same problem. Opus closes down during a flight anything from 5 min to 25 min intervals. I then have to keep restarting it! Does anybody have any ideas? It is frustrating as Opus is absolutley brilliant!
October 2, 201312 yr Geroth, Go to OpusFSX main site and download the latest update which is also the same version from Flight1 when i bought it over the weekend, but the OpusFSX support said to try to use that. Uninstall the OpusFSX from your WIN program (Do not delete the OpusFSX folder) and just leave the folder that was created when you first install. Install that application again and follow the configuration about your WIN permission and sharing stuff if you have not done it from your first install. Create the shortcut again, but launch the initial program from the main OpusFSX folder (not the shortcut you have created). This is what i did when i first ran the program by launching it from the shortcut instead of the actual FSXSERVER from the main OpusFSX folder. That explained all the weird stuff including not updating and exiting every 20 min. I just tested it about an hour and a half flight, so far no exit and it is updating the way it should be. I hope this will help your case also... Kin M. (Klax)
October 2, 201312 yr Commercial Member Thanks Kin, Notice to everyone ... The original release version 3.34 build was corrupted causing the FSXSERVER program to either revert to LIMITED mode or shutdown completely. This problem was corrected and a new build posted. If you are suffering from anything relating to the above please navigate to our Downloads page and download either the latest release update or the latest beta version. After downloading, check and uninstall ALL copies of OpusFSX in the Windows Program's List, then install the new version. As Kin said, do not delete your OpusFSX install folder or the c:\Opus Software licence folder. Just uninstall and reinstall the corrected release or beta build. Sorry for any inconvenience. Regards Stephen
October 2, 201312 yr Thanks Kin M for your help. Did as you said and installed the update. Dont know if it is newer than my original, as I only perchased it six days ago, but it seems to have done the trick. Had an hour flight with no problems. Thanks again Gerard (EGFF)
October 2, 201312 yr I had the same issue yesterday as a new user of OPUS. I will try the latest installer....thank you
