Should not the FO set the a-ice on if it has been set to REQUIRED in the app briefieng?

That's a not a bug.

 

It's just a general brief.

 

You as the Capt would have to turn on the anti ice at the right time.

 

Why? Because the FO can't "see" the environment well enough to know when to turn EAI or WAI on by himself.

 

Turning on the EAI at the Top of the Drop would be wasteful if you only need the EAI during approach.
