WindowsXP 64 Bit and FS9....

Does anyone know if the new Windows XP 64 bit upgrade is any good for FSCOF????

No, it's not. 64-bit architecture is some way away from being game-ready and FS was designed before 64-bit computing was even considered a viable possibility. But I believe the new 64-bit CPU's do offer a significant performance gain in FS even when run in standard 32-bit mode. If you search the forum for Athlon 64 you'll find some interesting benchmarks with FS.Allcott

FS itself is not designed as a 64 bit application. It should however work in a 64 bit environment. A 64 bit operating system have the advantage of being able to use huge amounts of RAM, while today's 32 bit XP is limited to something like three or four Gb (don't remember exactly). This allows a 64 server to store for instance a huge database entirely in RAM, decreasing the access time. Needless to say, the lack of RAM space is not still not an issue with desktop computers. Still, the Athlon 64 is an excellent CPU, even if you never use its 64 bit capabilities it is faster than its 32 bit cousin, the Athlon XP, at the same clockspeed.- Oyvind
