HELP ME! I CANNOT SEE MY MAIN PANEL!

Featured Replies

Hey all. Some time back (maybe a few weeks ago) I went to play flight sim, yet again, and for reasons beyond my comprehension I had suddenly lost the ability to see my main panel (on any aircraft) in the standard 2D view mode. Further experimentation showed that I cannot see the panel in the 2D mode when the game is in:1. Full Screen view2. When in Windowed view, but ONLY when the window is NOT maximized.I can see the panel just fine when in windowed mode and maximized.I have tried everything within my grasp to resolve this, but to no avail. As all can appreciate, the last thing you want to do is uninstall and reinstall--imagine the amount of reinstalling that would follow! Finally, there were no new additions to the program between the last "working" attempt and the moment when it all "broke down." If anyone has any suggestions, please, help me as I would welcome anything that might resolve this bizarre anomoly!Grizwalter http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/71333.jpg

Hi, have you changed drivers for your video card?Picture looks like an NVidia card with an ancient driver. A driver update may help.

Did you make a change to your fs9.cfg file... perhaps the panelAsTexture line? Did you change your video card's AA or AF setting?- JD

Guys,Keep it simpleClick Views - Insturment PanelEnsure Global On is checkedThen make sure Main panel (or something like that - depends on the plane) is also checked.** For the 737 NG (by PMDG) the "Dummy Main Panel" box must also be checkedThat should fix it - otherwise, backup your FS9.cfg file (saving it as FS9.cfg.backup)- delete the original - then startup the game and see if all is well.Otherwise update your video card driver

As Uwe points out, it is probably your video card drivers. If you've changed them recently, I would bet my whole years paycheck that is what the cause is. (Sure glad I don't get a paycheck or I could be in trouble). ;) If you've not changed drivers, I have no clue.As to drivers, though, the newest aren't necessarily the best. I can not use anything higher than 45.XX drivers with my FX 5200 Ultra card. Anything in the 50.XX series causes it to overheat and lock up my entire computer.Darrell

Hey all. Thanks for the responses. First off, I changed NOTHING since the last working effort at simming. NOTHING! This is the irony of the situation; one day everything worked, the next it did not!I am interested in the .cfg file stuff. Perhaps deleting and reinstalling/replacing that would do the job? Any thoughts? If that doesn't work, I'd certainly consider a driver update, but as most of you certainly know, updating drivers almost always causes more problems than it does create benefit!Grizwalter

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear on this, by the way. I definately did the standard stuff in terms of view setup, etc. Instrument Panel view, Global on, main panel/whatever is on, etc.All is well in that department, I'm CERTAIN!Joe

Hey Grizwalter,This is a driver problem, and yes, it does creep up after some time of it working fine. Just update them and you will have panels back.
