How do I get rid of the Default Vapour/Contrails from Fs9, pleaseKen,Somerset, England

In the effects folder, delete the files fx_contrail_l.fx and fx_contrail_s.fxI'd zip them up first, but you could always pull them off the CDs.You could also modify those files to shorten/lengthen contrails if there is something specific about the defaults that you dislike.Best,sg

Hi sg,Thanks for your quick reply. The default ones conflict with those I am using that appear further out along the wings - possibly they are vortices (spelling?) but they look better.Ken

Glad to help. Here's another idea: Download markus brunners AI_contrail utility - it's not just for AI. It allows you to choose an effect for contrail formation. You could in essence swap the default contrail for the more appealing vortex effect, keeping it in proper alignment with your engines. Nice little util. I'd like to know the name of the effect that you prefer, if you don't mind - have any screenshots?Just some ideas.Best,sgTo anyone who cares, those two effects represent different atmospheric phenomena - wing tip vortices are caused by the drop in pressure associated with a fast moving wing, the reduction in pressure causing the air to become saturated, and thus condensation forms. This usually occurs at low altitude in humid air, or in cases of extreme change in pressure, such as on top of a wing with an abnormally high incidence (think of that f/a 18 pulling 7Gs). Contrails occur when the hot, moist exhaust gas mixes with cold, low pressure air such that the resulting mixture of air is super-saturated, causing condensation. This normally occurs at high altitude where vapor pressure is low. Just something I read in Maxim.

Hi sg,I'll have a look for the Markus Brunner contrail utility, sounds great.I attach a .jpg of my 'best so far' contrails - the .jpg is not mine it came with the download. The contrails are for the PSS A320 Series, don't know if it will work on any other aircraft. This utility is the work of Henry Lidster 2002, it is his Copyright; his contact site is http://www.airtraffic.net (not sure if that address still works!). I can send you the file, size 140Kb if you let me have an email address. Thanks for your help.Ken
