How to Interpret Frame Rate?

Featured Replies

Whenever I shift-Z to read my frame rate, the frame rate counter fluctuates so much I can't determine what the actual frame rate is.I use Ken Salter's FS9 Configurator and select the option to read the average frame rate but I still can't interpret the rate. What do the numbers indicate when I select this option and how do I know what the actual frame rate is? Thanks for any clarification.Jim

I can

It is going to fluctuate a lot. There will not be one magic number. For example, if you fly to Chicago O'Hare and look at a terminal with a lot of AI traffic, your FPS number is going to be a lot lower than if you are cruising at 35,000 feet. Don't get hung up on the numbers, turn it off, and just see if the sim is smooth or not.

The average frame rate display measures the fps over a period of time (I think it's 30s or so), and is displayed as follows (from left to right): lowest, average, highest, fluctuation (in %).Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg
