Featured Replies

Hi,Hope this doesn't qualify as "advertising" - it is for a good cause.Sent to me by Rob:The "UIVER" team is proud to anounce the release of the Douglas DC2 for FS2004 and FSX.After many years of hard work and thorough research, it's finally ready. The revenue from the sales will be donated to the Aviodrome, Dutch National Aviation Theme Park and Museum.Aviodrome has one of the worlds last two airworthy Douglas DC-2's in their collection. The real plane is maintained by volunteers and with the money raised from individual and corporate donations. By selling the DC-2 package we hope to contribute to keeping this unique, priceless and historic aircraft in flying condition. Your purchase will be a very welcome contribution! The package will be sold through the well known secure Flight1 system. For complete information on the features of this package and a link to download the Douglas DC2 for FS2004 and FSX please visit this site: http://home.hccnet.nl/r.cappers/dc2/Support issues and questions will be handled through our forum: http://sreppac.multiforum.nl/We hope you will enjoy flying this unique, hands-on classic airplane!--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

I'm currently reading "Fate Is The Hunter" by Ernest Gann. Besides being an author he was a "line" pilot pre WW2 for American Airlines. His stories take place in either a DC-2 or DC-3, the DC-2 being the pig of the bunch. He did say the DC-2 saved his neck once when they ran into bad icing conditions. Over 4 inches accumulating on the leading edges and rudder. Any other plane would have dropped from the sky except the DC-2.

Hi Tom,I thought you might, but didn't have time to check yesterday. I thought I'd post it here too for those that might not see it on the main page. >This is one instance where I think members here were deceived.> Any product that's paid for up front is "payware", regardless>of where the proceeds go.I, and another poster, pointed that out a few days ago in this thread but our posts were deleted.

"I, and another poster, pointed that out a few days ago in this thread but our posts were deleted."Please don't get me wrong--looks like a good package and lots of good people are backing it up. Don't want this discussion to turn into something bad, it's just something I feel should have been pointed out from the beginning before people got a yearning for the package. Hope that clarifies my view--modellers most certainly have the right to attach any strings they want to a package and I've seen payware out there of far less quality.Regards,John

Hi,As I understand it, this decision was made very late in the process; it was not even contemplated when the project was first reported in that earlier thread.OK, If I could change it I would now call it "Donation Payware".--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

""Donation Payware"Chuckle. Thanks Tom, Off topic, but I've been wondering if you're ever going to finish the process of converting all those source files on your site so they can be used in FSDS/FSDS2? There's still some old designs there that look like they are worth experimenting with.Regards,John

Been waiting a long time for this one and DEFINATELY not disappointed, matter of fact, pleasantly surprised with some of the features !
