January 20, 200719 yr Hi allI have been trying to work out how to use the exclude line in the scenery cfg file to remove some objects but its a little confusing.I have looked at the Microsoft page on flatten and excluding but the bottom example shown has a different area layout than the area file lines in the 2004 scenery cfg file.Does anyone here have a better description on how to go about excluding scenery objects and can any object be excluded or is it only Microsoft default scenery objects Thanks
January 20, 200719 yr Check out excbuilder. It will allow you to remove objects from the scenery. It won't remove objects from an add-on scenery though. If you need any tips, just PM me.http://www.flightsimsetc.dhs.org/content.p...=v&t=fs2004miscAdam
January 20, 200719 yr Here is the MS dataQUOTEThe Exclude Switch Flight Simulator provides the Exclude switch to exclude the default Microsoft scenery (objects and/or navigational aids) in a given four-sided area from being displayed (or transmitted in the case of radio navigational aids). The Exclude switch affects only scenery areas with a lower layer number than the scenery area they are added in. For example, if the switch is placed in layer 70, then only layers 69 and below will be affected. //Note: this covers both default and any addon scenery// Switches are added to the end of a scenery area entry in the Scenery.cfg file using a text editor. The Exclude switch syntax is as follows:Exclude=North Latitude,West Longitude, South Latitude, East Longitude, categoryExclusion happens only in a rectangular area such as: North Latitude +-------------+ | | West Longitude | |East Longitude | | +-------------+ South LatitudeIt must follow the form North Latitude, West Longitude, South Latitude, East Longitude. The Latitude and Longitude entries must be in the form of degrees and minutes. You do not need to add the * or ' symbols to indicate degrees and minutes. The category determines which default scenery type you choose to exclude in the defined area. There are 4 categories:objects Excludes all default 3-dimensional buildings and objects as well as airports.vors Excludes all default VOR and ILS navigational aidsndbs Excludes all default NDB navigational aids.all Excludes all default objects and navigational aidsYou can use 1 or more categories in an Exclude switch. The maximum size of an Exclude area is 90 degrees of longitude and 45 degrees of latitude. The following example excludes all scenery types EXCEPT NDB navigational aids from a rectangular area.[Area.100]Group=Your AreaID=Your AreaTitle=Your AreaActive=TRUELayer=100Local=C:Your AreaExclude=N45 30,W120,N45,W119 30,objects,vors/QUOTEHere is an actual example from my scenery.cfg:[Area.174]Title=Las Vegas McCarran Intl. (KLAS) by SimFlyersLocal=SimFlyersKLASRemote=Required=FALSEActive=TRUELayer=174Exclude=N36 06 03,W115 10 22,N36 04 08,W115 07 02,allLike you said, the documentation is a little off on the file layout. The exclude switch is not the recommended method though, but works in FS9.scott s..
