I'm reworking the panel to integrate a GTN750, this is a WIP.
There is much to be done (PFD, AP, APU, FMS, Aircraft.cfg & FLTINFO Gauge)
Will also fix some FMS errors so people can choose to fly GTN or FMS

Couldn't get a single reply on my previous post enquiring about frame rates or stutters.

Makes it hard to decide as to whether to buy Carenado's latest and expensive (for Carenado) offering.

FPS drop at a certain flightlevel

Anyone else who got this problem when the aircraft is passing FL160 and up, the fps drops dramaticly from 50-60 fps down to 15-20 fps until descend and under FL160 everything suddenly go back to high fps just like that? I've reinstalled the FA50, tried with older Nvidia drivers but nothing helps and this problem started recently. The Cessna 560XLS had the same problem but it went better after reinstalling. I use RXP GTN on both aircrafts. Other planes like the PMDG 737 or Aerosoft Airbus series doesn't act like that when flying. Even the Beech Premier stays ok with the RXP GTN addon during the whole flight.

Very disappointed by the Carenado FA50

Hello, I just wanted to give you my opinion about this aircraft I bought two weeks ago. I did about 25-30 flight with it... And sorry, but carenado really did a very very poor add-on !!

I have nothing to say about the textures, they're perfect, but the navigation is just horrible !!!

I noticed a lot of problems, they are not all listed but here are the major ones :

● The DCT function don't work properly. The plane will turn to align itself on the route between the chosen point and the previous point. It looks exactly like the basic GPS, it's not realistic at all.

● When you want to do a direct, the wayepoint at the top of the page is hidden by dashes, and impossible to selec itt. You have to go to LEGS, delete a previous point so that it can reappear in the list. (but the next one will disappear in the same way)

● Pages 1 and 3 of PERF calculate the Fuel Flow only with two engines. Despite the patch 1.1 a few days ago on page 2 which now displays all 3 engines, they have botched the job...

● On the PFD, MFD and FMC, the waypoint sometimes locks onto a previous wayepoint, although the aircraft continues to follow the route. I have to do a DCT several times on the newt WPT during a flight to fix the problem.

● When choosing an arrival procedure, you have to select the type of approach (ex RNAV), then the transition, and finally the STAR. If you choose the STAR and then the type of approach, the star will disappears from the flight plan.

● The LNAV has very poor management of tight turns. Tight turns are always overshooted, so sometimes it's hard to align with the final approach.

● The MFD very often displays a completely wrong distance and time to the next wayepoint. It's hard to prepare the arrival or to know where I am in my route. e.g. :

● Even if it is not heavy, it has difficulties to climb above FL330.

● The range is well below than the real aircraft performances

Finally, I'm very very disappointed by Carenado. I was looking for this plane since a long time.

With all these problems it's complicated to anticipate the aircraft's behavior. It's also difficult to fly online on IVAO. It's impossible to navigate correctly.

It's impossible that the Carenado development teams didn't notice all of this, or they didn't test their aircraft before putting it up for sale.

I don't know if they will fix these problems, probably never, but for the moment I've lost ~40€.Okay, it's a very beautiful aircraft, but it's just a toy that doesn't work properly

ILS Approach in FA50 EX for FSX?

Could someone explain to me how to do an ILS approach in the FA50 EX for FSX? I'm familiar with ILS in other aircraft, to include Boeing systems. But I'm having trouble finding information on ILS in this model.

I am new to the carenado falcon 50. I have been able to program the FMC without any issues. In todays flight I made it all the way to the final airport for landing. I set the NAV radio to the correct freq. for the ILS approach. The signal was received. However when I press the APPR button, it does not turn on (engage). Also was unable to set the CRS, but I assume that is because I can't figure out how to select the APPR function.

What might I be missing?

Just a quick one, is there a way to change the fuel and weight units over to Kg's instead of Lb's? I can't seem to find a way to do it. It's alien for a British pilot to work in Lb's!

Very Low Frame Rates

Hi All:

Does anyone have a good fix for the mow famous Navigraph-related very low FPS? After the latest install of the Falcon I am getting frame rates at start up below 1. I have googled it and checked the Carenado support page and cannot find anything definitive that works.

Waypoints sequencing

So far my flights with the Falcon are going well with the exception of the waypoints sequencing display in the MFD.

The AP track the entered flight plan but the waypoints sequencing display in the top of the MFD is most of the time lagging and does not reflect the WPT's still to go. So, there is a discrepancy between

the flight plan in the FMS and the MFD. My installation might be corrupted but before to do a full re-install I wanted to know if this issue has been already adressed.

Proper use of Bearing Source

Greetings Fellow Falcon50 EX-ers!!

I am looking for good examples of where one might set the Bearing source different from the Nav source. I am currently setting both as the "GPS " Or "VOR1" ( For ILS approaches). I could use some help understanding the difference between the two.

In G1000 cockpits for example( Phenom300) , I can set NAV1 and NAV 2 and see the "Green single arrow" or "Green double arrow" on the PFD and use it as guidance from nearby VORs and STiILL be flying in GPS mode ( magenta)

So what is the Bearing source in FA50ex and how do i use it properly?

FA50 EX crashes constantly

Just bought this bird and I probably shouldn't have, but it looked so nice.

I have the standard AP/FMS issues with the Phenom 300, and I should have stayed away.

Anyways, I bought this the other day and have been unable to fly it since. I have Track IR, and the first crash happened when I turned my head too quick. The game crashed out and I had a "your computer ran out of memory" error. I have 32 GB of RAM, and while I understand something about FSX maxes the vram out at 4gbs, I have not had any other issues with any other planes.

I am running with ORBX scenery (Global, Vector, North America, NA Alaska/Canada, and Lights, along with the freeware Airports, libraries), Active Sky 2016, Active Sky Cloud Art, Pro-ATC-x, and PDMG 737-800. All of that was running except the 737. This first crash happened during the initial Navigraph upload, so perhaps there was too much going on?

The crashes after this... I paused track IR so there would be no movements while the navigraph did it's initial startup. After this, I unpaused Track IR and turned my head back and forth, with no crashes. I was in window mode (to be safe, until I reached cruise) and tried to open the radio stack and it showed up black and the game crashed out again, but without the memory warning. I had several other crashes after this, all while trying to open panels. I only received the memory error the first time.

Any ideas on this? I'm running an intel i5 8600k with a GTX 970, 32GB of RAM on Windows 10.

My settings are at the recommended ORBX minimal settings, so pretty much high/ultra high

I've researched this issue all last night with little help, so I'm reaching out to the community. Thanks all! Oh an for the record I have flown with the PDMG 737 on these same settings with no issues whatsoever.

FA 50 EX Flight Plan P3D

Hey everyone,

Perhaps this issue has been talked about, but I'm not seeing anything in this forum related to Flight Plan importing.

I use SimBrief to create all of my flight plans. I have a .PLN file exported to use with P3D, but can't figure out how to import that data into the FMS built into the Carenado FA 50 EX. Is there any way to do this, or am I going to have to manually enter the flight plan information?

Falcon 50EX Cockpit Flood Light Not working

I have noticed that the cockpit flood light does not seem to be working on my system, FSX Gold Boxed. When I click the button or the knob the floodlight flashes and everything is illuminated for a second, then the illumination disappears although the light fixture looks to be on. Anyone else?

I STILL can't not pop out the panel. As indicated below I think that I followed RAMON procedures but may be I am not doing the right thing to get the panel to come up. I GET THE MDF PANEL LOCATION BLACK.

Hi, happy With this airplane. Lots of good stuff, but if you compare it With pmdg you will get dissapointet. It cost 1/3 of pmdg Aircrafts(t7), so you should know there will be some bugs….

After Reading manual and some trying, i am now able to perform a realistic flight. Dont make to early complaints about a Product, if you havent tried to learn it from the start....

EDRM-Repaints on the FA50

As you might already be familiar with from the other aircraft, in this thread I'll be presenting my work on the Falcon.

Before that I just gotta complain about this developer again, though. Their ignorance toward the repainting community is just staggering.
The Falcon is a prime example of this again. Not just turns a straight line on the texture into a shaky one as smooth as the surface of the Pacific Ocean on a windy day when viewed in sim (we're accustomed to that by now), but they have seriously mapped both outbord engines to one piece of texture!
This is a new height of incompetence which makes every livery that has anything written on those two engines impossible to recreat. (One engine would always be mirrored)
As a result of that, I have to apologize in advance to the french simmers looking forward to their Naval Aviation Falcon 50s. I've found out that the one with the registration 78 has been flying without the MARINE mark on the engines since 2017, which at least let's me paint you one version. It's still missing for this iconic livery.

Anyways, now that I've vented a bit, I'll be back to the drawing board and the repaint should be available later on. 🙂

ADF Selector

I wonder if anyone else has experienced a problem with the ADF selector? I use the adjacent LSK key to highlight the ADF frequency and the outer knob to highlight the individual digit but the inner knob will not change the number. These knobs however work fine for selecting the numbers for the COM/NAV frequencies but just won't do it for the ADF. I have redownloaded and reinstalled the Falcon 50 in case the installation/download was corrupt but the issue persists.

I know as an ADF user I'm a bit of a dinosaur but I sometimes like the challenge ADF navigation can provide!
