then the second engine failed - checked the usual fuel pump - fuel on etc - eventually gave up the aircraft

Yesterday in the big sale - I bought the PA42T version - familiarized myself with all controls etc. - no problems

Used the software engine starts and checked position of switches with Start up Proceedures -

What am I doing wrong - that that repeats exactly what happened with the PA 31T

This is a small update to the Cheyenne IIIA modification.

	1. Minor fixes to cockpit sounds.

	2. Autopilot update.

	3. Added propeller drag at very low power settings.

	4. Updated the ADF to facilitate easier frequency changes.

	5. Activated the Carenado Radar in the Carenado GNS530 panel. This can be easily done for any of the panels in the panel.cfg files.

It will be on the street shortly as a complete mod update.

If you are not on the distribution list and would like a copy, please send my a PM here with your email address.

With all other switches off including Starter/Generator, Ignition, Fuel Pump, not so much as a dome light, as soon as you switch on the Battery Master switch you hear the turbines winding up and both engines try to start. If the Condition Levers aren’t fully at Stop, both engines start in seconds and it takes off like a rocket. On my first attempt the axis on my Saitek X52 Pro that I’m using for the condition lever wasn’t calibrated, so it was at 1% and that was enough for both engines to roar to life. The only work around I’ve come up with is to skip the preflight and have everything set up for start before switching the battery on.

In case you were wondering, you can enable ATC to refer to you in the Cheyenne III (or when you ID yourself on a transfer to a new controller), by changing atc_model=PAY4 in the aircraft.cfg [General] section, the next line after atc_type=Piper. I tried several possibilities, and this one worked.

Heading mode is working in a pinch, but this is rather irritating. am i overlooking something, or is this a bug?

UPDATE: i moved the nav needle until the autopilot switched to NAV ARMED. i then spun it back to its original course. NAV CPLD was engaged and it worked fine after that.

Followed the earlier discussion. As far as I can tell, the PA42 has no beacons. Am running P3Dv4.5. There are the faintest little blips from strobes on the wing tanks in daylight. At night, there is no trace of any strobes (or beacons). Bit dangerous way to fly. Is this something particular to P3D4.5? Can't tweak anything as the lights are all embedded in the models. The Turbo Commander on the other hand has wonderful strobes.

Interestingly, Carenado didn’t exactly know what it had when modeling the Cheyenne III. The visual model is a Cheyenne IIIA, but the performance model seems to be a Cheyenne III. So, while developing the modification I decided to go with the IIIA. The difference in the airplanes is the engine. The III has the -41 engine while the IIIA utilizes the -61. The PT6A-61 engine is actually the same engine used in the King Air 300 (-60A), but coupled to a -42 gearbox. The result is no real difference in takeoff performance due to torque limits on the gearbox, but a substantial increase in cruise speed because the engine can produce rated torque at higher altitudes.

	Changes:

	1. Moved normal and lite versions to a single aircraft folder. The only difference are the interior model files.

	2. Updated autopilot (part of a continuing quest to get the KFC 300 right). Pilot guide included. This download will also update your Cheyenne II autopilot.

	3. Included Cheyenne IIIA POH.

	4. Corrected surface deicing mechanization.

	5. Auto feather and auto feather test now works.

	6. Corrected pitot heat mechanization.

	7. Modeled the electrical system (as best I could).

	8. Corrected N1 indications to provide 12% minimum on start IAW the POH.

	9. Corrected ITT indications to more closely emulate real world behavior.

	10. Corrected performance numbers to emulate the Cheyenne IIIA’s capability (as best I could).

	11. Inserted consequences for not properly following POH checklist procedures.

	12. Corrected the engine start sequence and idle control.

	13. Corrected the panel lights master mechanization (as best I could).

	14. Made some serious FDE changes to accommodate desktop simulation.

	15. Provided user selectable options for throttle matching and automatic control of pressurization in the normal control window.

	a. There is an optional throttle and propeller matching algorithm. Those of you that tried my previous attempt were not impressed. This algorithm is greatly improved and eliminates the “hunting” that you may have seen before. Try it. If you don’t like it, simply turn it off in the control window.

	b. Carenado’s pressurization controllers have never, ever worked properly. I built a system that can be used manually or automatically by inserting your final altitude in the altitude pre-select window. Again, try it. If you don’t like it you can simply turn it off in the control window.

	16. Enabled the trim master switch (must be on to use trim or the autopilot).

	17. Provided options for the Carenado GNS 530, Flight1 GNS 530, and the Flight1 GTN 750. RXP gauges can easily be substituted using their utility.

There are probably other things that I have already forgotten about.

If you are on the email list, this will be out shortly. If you are not on my mailing list, own the Carenado Cheyenne III, and would like to try the mod, please send me a PM with an email address.

	Hello All:

I recently purchased the Carenado Piper Cheyenne III.

Despite following the Before Landing checklist precisely, I'm having trouble with the Beta range.

Specifically, when decelerating on the landing roll, I move the Power Levers on my CH Products throttle quadrant into Reverse Range, and the reverse thrust slows the aircraft down as expected.

I can her the props go into the beta range as expected.

The problem starts when I come out of beta range to taxi (throttle cut-off position at the detent); the aircraft lunges forward, accelerates and skids wildly on the runway (even under full braking).

After several seconds I can hear the turbines wind down and I am able to taxi as normal.

Has any one else experienced this problem? If so, were you able to fix it?

It is noteworthy to add that I am using the registered version of FSUIPC. I do not have this issue with the Realair Turbine Duke using the exact same throttle quadrant calibration in FSUIPC.

I'm hoping this issue can be fixed so this aircraft does not end up in the bin alongside the other Carenado disappointments.

Prop animations viewed from the interior are corrupted.

On startup, the right prop does not spin slowly. It goes directly from still to blurr. If the right engine is started first, the left prop disappears. It reappears when the right engine is shut down.

On shutdown, the right prop stops immediately. The left prop spins down normally.

The radar altimeter does not work. Even with the power turned on, the needle does not move.
