I want to update the navigation database on the Carenado/Alabeo DA42, but I can't seem to. I tried using a Carenado airac update exe file, and this has updated the database under 'CarenadoNavigraph' folder within my P3D core folder, however the aircraft MFD still shows a 2016 AIRAC. I reached out to Carenado on their support page and they said 'This aircraft doesn't integrate Navigraph, DA62 does' and that 'they believe there is a way [to update the nav database] but they don't know how' and suggesed 'going to the forums'....does anyone have any insight into how I might be able to update it? After setting the DA42 to Cold and dark after a flight, The MFD is still active.

Is that the norm?

• Has the GTN750 in the VC and as a popup.
• Alabeo G1000 MFD only available as a popup in case you need it.
• Reversionary Mode =ON so aircraft and engine parameters are on the PFD G1000
• what it looks like JPG to see if you even want to do this

This was installed in P3Dv4 but should also work with other flight sims. Alabeo Twin Star and GTN750 Complete (v2.0.3) were installed into their default locations

Can anyone confirm that there is a version 2.1 of the DA42?  I've seen a few posts mentioning it but on the Alabeo website and where I purchased mine at PC Aviator Australia, the version states 2.0.

How does one go about obtaining v2.1?

Was wondering why the horizon on the G1000 PFD is tilted before start-up... I thought that the digital representation was not affected like it is with mechanical gauges?

Is that the norm or a glitch in the Alabeo DA42 G1000?

I've just discovered that Carenado released SVS G1000 for all their equipped G1000 aircraft. Therefore, we can enjoy a close-to-real G1000 as we should after many years of waiting,

Is Alabeos aircraft (DA42... ecc) able to run that G1000 previously mentioned?

Real world it didn't take long for feedback to get to Diamond that the engines were word not allowed poor. Then Thielert went out of business and Diamond tried Lycoming for a bit before finally settling on Austro Turbo 300's which the current DA-42 IV are equipped with. Much faster and leaner burning and make this bird a joy to fly.

I tweaked the aircraft.cfg as I flew around the World. It essentially "upgrades" the engines from the Alabeo modelled Thielert 1.7 Litre (under-powered) to the current Austro Turbo 300. It ups the power quite a lot - you can achieve level flight a few knots down from Vne. I tweaked the cruise scalars and thrust and drag to represent the aerodynamic cleanup of cowlings and flush rivet heads that Diamond did for the IV together with the new propeller design done in 2012.

Bear in mind that with just you in the cockpit (solo) you won't need full power on TO - as in real Twin Star IV. You and three passengers and a load of luggage - full power.

Power should be applied on gaining altitude to give you realisitic KIAS's/ fuel consumption at cruise heights with power set between 70 - 84 %. Read the notes for the real thing.

Obviously don't forget to backup your original aircraft.cfg (rename it something like aircraftBACKUP.cfg and substitute this one.)

Which is the last version of this Plane 2.1 or 2.0 because on this forum you speak about a 2.1 but on flightsimstore they didn't update the 2.1 and when i download it there is only 2.0 version!!

However i have sent them a mail three times the last two months but they don't answer to there customers!!!

I would appreciate it if someone could let me know generally how to program the DA42 for a flight plan - not doing it manually. In one of the videos on YouTube it mentions that PlanG software can be used to create the plan, but there is another video suggesting that it would follow a plan entered into Prepar3d! 

Any advice would be good.

I am a newcomer to the Alabeo DA42 on P3Dv4, and I am happy with it so far with the exception of the autopilot having a mind of its own. I have reviewed all pertinent topics on this board but none seem to find a solution except to reset the gyro drift. I am familiar with the gyro drift influences, and I have it disabled.

On my first flight, the autopilot would not do anything besides bank 60+ degrees left and right, even with no roll mode engaged. I tried pressing 'D' to reset the heading gyro just to be safe. No effect. I ended up handflying the flight since nothing I could do would get the autopilot to do what I wanted it to.

On my second flight, the autopilot worked flawlessly.

On my third flight, the autopilot behaved as it did in the first flight.

I began all three flights using the same default flight with no slew used. I am at a loss as to what affects whether or not the autopilot functions properly.

Hopefully someone with more hours in this product has some tips.

After months of not using this aircraft, Ive noticed its updated to v2.1, so i uninstalled and re installed the later version.

Can anyone let me know what was changed please?

I have purchased and downloaded the alabeo DA42. It has a few bug but the one that is annoying me is the fact i dont have a flight director on the PFD. Not even CTR+F works!

I can´t see anyone else having this issue, so there might be something wrong with my settings. I´m using P3D4 and AS16 btw.

Have downloaded but not installed yet changelog very general.

Once you are done, click the screw again and the MFD returns without the need to run the boot sequence.

Feel free to add your points with a short list and also report any current issues via the Alabeo ticket system. They might not change much if it doesn't get reported. :wink:

While we are at it, just a list, not sorted by any priorities:

• no yaw damper (cleared item, the KAP equipped planes didn't have that)
• a flight director shouldn't be available (on KAP140 eq. planes), but it is (can be disabled in the aircraft.cfg)
• rudder trim knob and indicator are reversed
• G1000 transponder setting always is on, no GND or other modes available
• G1000 PFD popup uses the wrong 'suction' source (same as stdby instruments) whereas the VC G1000 PFD is correctly unaffected by any 'suction' loss.
• G1000/KAP140 no altitude alert sound
• de-ice system, panel labelled with 'no smoking', aircraft.cfg setting states NO anti-ice system at all on that plane, panel pumps (which should pump de-ice fluid) are bound to fuel pump commands, no anti-ice modes (mainly pumping actions) available, system is always off
• autopilot, popup gauge has 'FD' button, VC does not. As previously explained, there's no FD on the real KAP140 eq. plane, so the VC is correct.
• wrong fuel type as per aircraft.cfg, the plane runs the Thielert Centurion engines which consume Diesel or JetA, not Avgas as the cfg says.

Only P3D related:

• Too high ground friction and/or weight dependence (to be investigated by users)

Note: This post cannot be updated all the time. Later posts therefore give the more current picture regarding the plane's bug status.

Having a slight issue with my DA42, just purchased it for FSX steam.

Selected FSX steam as the platform, manually had to find the FSX steam folder for it to install.

Everything installed ok, shows up fine in the create a flight menue, but in game, the external is, well...see for yourself...

Any help would be appreciated.
