Hello everyone

I just installed Sweetfx in FSX. I am reaaly confused and have no idea on how to set it properly. I am using the FX configurator that came with SweetFX. Is there any key for on/off for sweetfx like it is for Enb?

Been using Sweet FX for the past year or so successfully with FSX:SE until the Fall Creators Update was pushed onto my Win 10 x64 system. Has anyone been experiencing CTDs on starting FSX with d3d9.dll since this update? Or has a version of Sweet FX that is functional since the update? Removing Sweet FX lets FSX run fine.

	Thanks.

Just wondering if it's possible to run SweetFX on top of an ENB? I have an ENB that I really like, but would like to add in some custom shades and adjust the saturation within the SweetFX settings.

I am trying to install this: https://reshade.me/sweetfx#download

But, when I start fsx se, it shows a white screen instead of the home screen. When I then select the fly now page, all I get a is a black screen, and the game crashes. If I rename the dll to d3d9.dll instead of dxgi.dll, it temporarily shows the aircraft preview screen when I press fly now, and I see the effects working (says loading effect). However, after like one second, fsx again crashes. I have a friend that installed the same things, and it works for him. I use nvidia inspector, but disabling it doesn't help. I use dx 10, but using dx9 doesn't help either. Any ideas?

Can anyone tell me what effect to use in reshade to get that 'something' which kills the kind of dull colors in P3D and injects some life? I've been trying out presets but none of them did the job, most were overdone (I also know they look different depending on the monitor).

So far the only effect I find improves things is luma sharpen which makes it more comfortable trying to make something out in the distance like the runway on approach.

Good Day,
I recently started using two different texture enhancement packages. One called TNW, and one called EVO.
They each have their strengths, and I commend the authors for their accomplishments. My goal is to enhance the environments further, using SweetFX.

Relevant system components are AMD Phenom II Quad Core/ATI 5770 card/WIN 7.

I have since been trying to get SweetFX installed and working, with disastrous results.
The main issue is, after installing all the files in the root FS9 folder, and adding the SweetFX folder to the root, FS9 fails on start-up stating it can't find DX9, and to reload it.
I am running on DX11, and also have the DX9 run time libraries, etc.
When I remove the "d3d9.dll" file from the root, FS9 will start as expected, but I have no effects from SweetFX.
Put it back, FS9 won't launch, spitting the DX9 error up.

I have spent 3 days reading posts on numerous forums, tried different versions of SweetFX - with, and without the Shader package/installer (When trying with Shader, it throws up a failed to execute something or another, when starting a saved flight. Not sure why the failure, but the errors stay on the screen even though the flight loads ok. Whole 'nutha story!)

I'm reaching out to any experienced user of SweetFX, who also uses Win7 & DX11, who may have had my issue, but found the magic to get it working. I'd love to play around with it, and aspire to achieve some of the magnificent visual effects that can be had, when using it properly.

Thanks very much to all who respond, it's very much appreciated.

Neil

Hi all,

I've been having an issue when trying to use SweetFX with FSX.

Once extracting all the relevant files and folders into the FSX root directory (E:\FSX), FSX will not load and crashes back to desktop after a few seconds on the splash screen.

I have seen various posts around this particular issue where its has been suggested that there are potential issues with a variety of areas such as; antialiasing, DX10, shaders and not having up to date drivers etc etc. Having checked all of these out, still no change.

As suggested I've updated to latest Nvidia graphics driver (Clean Install), I've also turned off antiailaising but with no success.

I have isolated the issue however with 1 file in particular, 'd3d9.dll'. Once i delete this file, FSX starts up fine, although SweetFX doesn't appear to work at all. It was mentioned one one particular post that SweetFX will still function without this file, although firstly I have no idea if this is accurate, and if it is in fact correct, why am I not seeing any changes?

As a test I am making sure Split Screen is enabled and have also altered many of the settings (using 'FLight FX: SweetFX GUI) so I assume the difference would be quite noticeable as soon as FSX has loaded as the aircraft preview image also displays the split screen image.

I have checked the log and can see the following, although I'm unsure how to locate the specific cause from this.

full path: E:\FSX\

redirecting CreateDevice

initialising shader environment

device->GetBackBuffer failed

redirecting CreateDevice

initialising shader environment

D3DXCreateEffectFromFile failed

try to use "E:\FSX" for shader files

Can anyone help to shed some light on the above to help me resolve the issues?

Some additional info which might help:

Intel i5-4690k

Nvidia GeForce GTX 770

FSX (SP1 + SP2)

A quick question. Has anyone here gotten FSX to work with ReShade or SweetFX and DX10 without any screen flashing while changing views (or opening 2D panel pop-ups), and without API.dll or d3d11.dll CTDs? (Preferably using recent nVidia drivers.). If so, can you please share which exact version of ReShade/SweetFX you are using and the steps you took to accomplish that?

Using Windows 7, FSX SP2, and nVidia GTX 780. Tried a variety of ReShade/SweetFX versions to no avail, and unfortunately other forum posts on which versions to use and how to install them are all over the place; simply can't follow them to the point where it works reliably, it's just not clear to me unfortunately.

Thanks.

So... many SweetFX threads have been opened lately, it was about time for it to get it's own forum, I guess.

This is for anyone new...

If you have been scorching the web for the terms 'FSX' and/or 'P3D' with the word 'sweetfx' and/or 'inspector settings', then I'm glad to say: You made it! this is the one and most reliable and consolidated source of information for how to make the freeware plugin called SweetFX work correctly with our flight simulators. However, it's not only SweetFX, but how to properly setup your Nvidia Inspector settings as well. There are LOTS of internet pages with different suggestions, which many of them do not make any sense whatsoever. I've set my goal to fix that.

In case you're wondering what is SweetFX? then, the explanation is pretty simple. SweetFX is an auto-initiating plugin that virtually works on any game. What it does is, creating an overlay, or a filter if you want, that allows you to manipulate the image presented. By default, regular 3d rendering is affected with a little blurriness. For simulator use, it's becoming especially critical when you need a clear view on those gauges. That's where SweetFX helps! using this plugin we can assign a sharpening factor which then counters the default rendering blurriness. Of course it doesn't end there. SweetFX is a very powerful tool and with a touch of creativity, can achieve some pretty amazing stuff!

So without further ado, hop in to SimTweak.com and read all about it. SimTweak is a dedicated page I setup especially for this. I decided not to use the forum post editor for this, because it's a lot of information to put in and bugs and small jitters are messing it up each time I need to put in an edit or update it.

As for support, please run a search prior to submitting a new support thread, most likely your inquiry was already asked/answered. It's also important to point out I'm NOT the author of this great tool. The author is a person called CeeJay, who resides mostly in the general SweetFX support thread over @ guru3d.com.

Hi all,

I have never ever tried SweetFX or any other similar tool and now interested to do some experiments.

Actually I had version 1.5.1 laying around on my machine, I tried it, but it prevents FS9 to start at all. Too outdated version against current

HW & SW & driver versions I think...

Ok, Now downloaded the latest 2.0 version. When looking compatibility list from reshade.me site, only FSX is mentioned.

Is latest SweetFX + ReShade still compatible with FS9 and there is successfull user results with it?

Also one thing regarding that manual installation procedure. Readme mention that .dll must be renamed, but then there is also that

ReShade.fx. I suppose that is copied just as it without any renaming to d3d9.fx. I just wonder because v. 1.5.1 had that d3d9.fx file included.

I had SweetFX working fine on my last PC, but I can't get it to run on the new one I have just bought. Both PCs run Windows 7 64-bit and both (according to Direct X Diag) are running DirectX 11. I recall reading somewhere about needing v.9.0c, but since the old PC shows DX11 and SweetFX worked fine there, I am confused.

On the old PC, I had d3d9.dll and d3d9.fx in the main FS9 folder, as well as shader.fx and the 3 txt SweetFX files. On the new PC though, the d3d9 files cause FS9 to crash at start-up. Once I remove them, I am OK again. I tried with dxgi.dll/dxgi.fx (something about them being for DirectX 10 & 11, the d3d9 files for DX9??) .. no crash now, true: but sweetfx doesn't work at all: nothing on the split screen for instance.

I'd really like to get this running again, not just for the graphics, but for the option to have a 1 pixel black border around FS9 in full-screen mode (at the moment I am back to having an annoying white border in full screen - again, just 1 or 2 pixels in width, but very visible (and irritating!) .

Hope someone can advise on the correct installation, as I am now very tired of Googling this with no result!

Thanks,

Martin

10 minutes later!...

This happens SO often.. I post a problem here (usually having spent ages trying unsuccessfully sort things out before coming to AVSIM) only to find that the problem disappears within minutes of my thread appearing! The magic of AVSIM..

I simply deleted all my SweetFX files, downloaded the latest version and copied the folder/files across again. Now SFX is working... though who knows what will happen when I fire up the sim tomorrow!

Thanks for reading anyway!

Tired of the same old look in your flightsim?

Here's a utility that lets you adjust a whole raft of display variables.

A bit like ENB bloom, but more.

Very easy to use, just change line by line values in a text editor while the sim is live.

This shot enables a switch called Technicolour, with a little contrast added in-sim:

Hi.

So I have occasional CTD with the d3d9.dll or ntdll.dll is shown as the faulting module in the crash report. Per CTD guide it is most likely caused by installation of SweetFX. Suggestion:

Remove the D3D9.dll modules (there are several) from your main FSX folder.

SweetFX installs the following files that should be moved to a temporary directory if problems occur: D3d9.dll, D3d9.fx, Dxgi.dll, Shader.fx, and the injector.ini.

What does it mean- following files that should be moved to a temporary directory if problems occur: D3d9.dll, D3d9.fx, Dxgi.dll, Shader.fx, and the injector.ini.

Will SweetFX work if I remove D3D9.dll modules

Thanks for looking
