<p>
	Hello all. I am trying to see if anyone is having trouble with panel lights in P3D v5.3. When I hit the switch nothing happens. I can turn the dials for for the panel and lighting increases but almost impossible to see switches at night. I used the number for lights with C130 lights from the effects folder to make the exterior lights bright (taxi, landing, beacon and nav lights). Just can't figure out how to get panel spot lights to work. I contacted Carenado but There was no help.. I had the GTN750 MOD installed and there said that might have something to do with it.  I reinstalled a clean copy but with no luck.
</p>

</p>

<p>
	Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank

<p>
	I got this great aircraft a few weeks ago and I've nearly got it as I'd like it but a couple of things seem beyond my skills.  Any help or observations are welcome.
</p>

<p>
	It is the Carenado EX and I use FSX SE and FSUIPC4.  Honeycomb yoke and Logitech quadrant.
</p>

<p>
	I have the power lever set (FSUIPC) so I have max, idle and then the Beta and reverse thrust positions.  The lever in the VC does not march in step with my quadrant throttle lever so when the VC one hits the top stop my quadrant lever still has quite a way to go.  Okay so that's a bit picky but has anyone managed to set it so the two are 'ganged' together better?  (It took me a while to 'get' that the power lever controls prop pitch in the Beta range inc the reverse pitch.)
</p>

<p>
	That brings me to the main question.  No way can I get the Prop lever to go back to feather the prop in the event of an engine shut down.   Can anyone suggest how to get it past the notch.  I think it is possible as the aircraft.cfg file mentions feather=1 (so yes?) and also mentions a min TQE of 400 ft lbs although how you get that TQE if the engine has failed and you need to feather I really don't know.
</p>

<p>
	Any help out there?  I have read all the pages here but can't find anything.
</p>

<p>
	If the niggles of Carenados G1000 are trying to you and you want an avionics package better appointed than Carenados older steam gauge caravan and can live with default textures then I have a recommendation.
</p>

<p>
	Go over to Simmarket and search out Friendly Panels.
</p>

<p>
	They have a Caravan package with Aspen EFD and GNS 530.
</p>

<p>
	If you have Reality XP it will hot swap in place of Friendly Panels' GNS 530.
</p>

<p>
	Also, with a little simple editing you can set up any configuration you like. 2 430s, a 530/430 combo, or GTN as I have already done on the FP Aspen Baron I use.
</p>

<p>
	The avionics are 2d and VC. Fully on the VC. But no annoying 3d texturing. Easy to work with.
</p>

<p>
	My Aspen GTN Baron is a go to twin for me. Give it a look.
</p>

<p>
	All default textures will work as all FP does is mod the default planes.
</p>

<p>
	Hey Folks,
</p>

<p>
	During the early months of Covid-19 I purchased the Carenado C208B HD Grand Caravan (with Steam Gauges) only to find it did not include immersive cockpit sounds which was a little disappointing.
</p>

<p>
	As such I've put together an immersive cockpit sounds package for the Carenado C208B HD Grand Caravan (Steam Gauge release).
</p>

<p>
	The package is based on Daniel Gauthier's "Cockpit Sounds V2" customised for x64 and the Carenado C208B HD.
</p>

<p>
	I've built it around P3D x64, meaning P3D 4 and above, but it should work Ok for FSX if the sound gauge is replaced with an x86 version (check Doug Dawson's webpage).
</p>

<p>
	See the readme file in the archive for details, and you'll find it located in the AVSIM library.
</p>

</p>

<p>
	I also used the demo Syncro-Soft turbine sounds, also in the AVISIM library.

	Here is what it sounds like.

	I've looked through the post titles and don't see anyone else reporting this, I just bought the C208 few minutes ago and installed into P3D v4.5
</p>

<p>
	All the external lights that should show on ground either don't show at all or are extremely dim like strobes only reflect on ground at dusk but after dark there's nothing on the ground.
</p>

<p>
	Landing lights are just plain dim all the time.  Switching both HDR and dynamic lighting on or off makes little to no difference.
</p>

<p>
	Is there any fix for this? I have the newest version of the plane (2.1) and the model I bought is the newest C208 EX HD

<p>
	I recently installed the GTN750 mod downloaded from the Flight1 File Library into the Carenado Grand Caravan EX and although the GTN750 itself works satisfactorily and  the autopilot will fly a GTN flightplan, the rotary knobs on the autopilot to select ALT, CRS and HDG will not function. This must be related to the mod as these knobs function without problems on a Caravan EX where the GTN has not been integrated. I have compared the two panel cfg files and I noted that the 'window' entry for the autopilot was not present in the addon panel that I downloaded from the Flight1 library (panel.gtn) so I copied that, renumbered the entry and added it to the panel.gtn cfg file but that didn't make any difference. I guess the issue might reside in the 'vcockpit' entries of the cfg file but I am unable to work out what I should modify and any help from anyone who has had this problem would be appreciated.

<p>
	Hi Folks. When I fly the Carenado C208 Caravan with my P3Dv3. Taxiing is virtually impossible. The throttle either speeds the aircraft to taxi at 21kts + with very little throttle, but when pulling throttle back just slightly the taxi speed drops to zero in no time. It seems all or nothing at all. There is no gradual action with the throttle. I tried setting the controls with FSUIPC, but I still got the same poor throttle results. Is there anything in the C208 .cfg that can be tweaked to enable the throttles to perform correctly please?

<p>
	I have a a bunch of questions about how to properly fly the C208B Caravan, specifically the Carenado for P3D v4. The included documentation is lacking. I get that this isn't a study level aircraft but I plan on streaming flights and I want to have all the procedures down. Thanks in advance if you can answer any of these!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	What do normal power settings look like? I've been using 1800 ft lbs and 1900 rpm for takeoff power, then once I hit about 1000agl I reduce prop speed to 1800 rpm, maintain 1800 ft lbs and hold airspeed to about 115KIAS, then for cruise I set about 1600-1700 ft lbs and 1700 rpm, usually cruising around 145KIAS. I understand all this varies based on temperature and runway length but is this roughly normal?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	What is the ignition switch for exactly? What is the difference between on and normal and when are both settings used?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	What is fuel boost and what is it used for? What is the difference between off, normal, and on? The checklist supplied with the aircraft files says to use ON for engine starting and never mentions it again, even though I've completed entire flights with the switch set to off.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	With the starter switch, start and off are obvious but what function does motor se?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	When is low and high idle used? I thought high idle was generally used when entering the runway and then back to low when exiting but I've seen youtube videos of real pilots using high idle right after engine start is complete.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	As far as autopilot, when I set the altitude first and then set either v/s or speed hold, it will stop the climb or descent at the set altitude but if I change the altitude during climb or descent, it totally disregards the new set altitude and either stops at the original set altitude or just continues the climb/descent past the set point. Is this an issue on Carenado's end or am I doing something wrong? If I set a new altitude the G1000 says ALTS in white letters. If I click on the altitude knob the ALTS goes away but either way it doesn't matter.

	Hello everyone! Many of you are using the GTN750 merge I created a couple of years ago and this package expands on that. While I'm not an expert at XML gauge programming, I was able to accomplish most of what I set out to do -which was create a huge realism boost to the Carenado Grand Caravan EX. I fly a 2017 Grand Caravan EX "in the real world" and these modifications are based on the training and experience I have had while flying it. Of course, not everything can be replicated with 100% fidelity in the sim for various reasons, but the goal of my modifications are to address several major things that I found needed tweaking. Please drop me a PM if you would like a copy and if you <em>are </em>an XML programming expert and would like to help, I'd definitely appreciate the assistance for the next version of this mod package! <span class="ipsEmoji">😉</span>

<p style="text-align:center;">
	<span style="font-size:22px;"><strong>Change Log:</strong></span><br>
	v1.0 | 22 May, 2020
</p>

<p>
	<strong>L/R P/S HEAT CAS message</strong> - Fixed incorrect behavior: Warning showed when P/S heat was turned off. This warning should be present in abnormal situations only. Disabled CAS message.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>FUEL BOOST ON CAS message</strong> - Fixed incorrect behavior: Warning appearing when the fuel boost is in the NORM *and* ON positions. Should only be present when in the ON position but the three way switch is not coded as separate events. Disabled CAS message.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>PROP DE-ICE CAS message</strong> - Fixed incorrect behavior: Warning showing when anti-ice turned off and required anti-ice to be turned on to clear the CAS message. In TKS-equipped Grand Caravan EX aircraft the propeller deice is tied to the TKS operation, not a separate prop-deice switch. Disabled CAS message.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>ENG ANTI ICE CAS message</strong> - Fixed incorrect behavior: Warning showing at all times. Disabled CAS message.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>IGNITION ON CAS message</strong> - Corrected default behavior that was tied to engine RPM. Now, CAS indication will correctly show when ignition is ON but not when in NORM.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Added LPV Deviation Indicator </strong>- For flying coupled GPS approaches using the GTN750, glidepath indications will now show on the PFD. Thanks to Bert and Jorge for the work they've done on this in other Carenado aircraft.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Enabled autopilot FLC mode</strong>. You can now set the desired airspeed for climbs/descents in FLC mode.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Fixed Power / Battery Switch Logic </strong><br>
	This has been changed to reflect RW operations. Added Tiebus #2 (Avionics switch 2) and switch logic:<br>
	- Battery turns on ADF only<br>
	- Avionics 1 turns on left PFD (note: the MFD-embedded GTN750 will turn on with AVN1 as well as there's no way to adjust its power logic)<br>
	- Avionics 2 turns on MFD and right PFD
</p>

<p>
	If the engine is running (i.e. adequate, non-battery only power is being supplied) and the GTN750 does not boot, turn off Avionics 1 &amp; 2 and the battery switch. Then turn on the battery, AVN1, AVN2 in that order. This seems to be a common issue with the Carenado planes I've flown with a merged GTN750.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Reversionary Mode updated</strong> - Previously, the PFDs were showing the reversionary mode EIS at all times. This has been disabled - However, for engine start with Avionics 1 only on (which is per the checklist), you will need to manually enable reversionary mode by pressing the red button between the left PFD and MFD. Then, manually disable it once the engine is stabilized and AVN2 is powered.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Other Updates:</strong>
</p>

<ul>
<li>
		Max torque redline adjusted to 2397 ft. lbs (from 2400)
	</li>
	<li>
		Standby Torque Gauge graphic fixed - The original aircraft uses the standby torque gauge graphic from the PT6A-114A Caravan which has a lower max TQE limitation. Updated the graphic to reflect the PT6A-140's 2,397 ft. lbs max TQE.
	</li>
	<li>
		Autopilot Disconnect sound updated from real G1000 autopilot disconnect recording.
	</li>
</ul>
<p>

</p>

<p>
	PM me for a copy. Thanks!

<p>
	Hi,
</p>

<p>
	In the hardware thread there was questions about using Spad.Next with Carenado planes....One of the specific planes was the C208EX which I owned and was using recently for Air Hauler 2 flights. I made a video to help the individual out on how to go about programming the switch panel.
</p>

<p>
	I will post it here so that users of the 208 can see how this can be used -- also helps with the "learn to fish" approach when trying to configure hardware with Carenado planes since they sometimes do weird things with Sim Variables and then LVARS for the 3D cockpit switch positions.
</p>

<p>
	Hope some people find this useful.

<p>
	I like to control my aircraft switches (as I can) with hardware switches (party of a learning process towards home cockpit building). I would like to control this aircraft's No Smoking and Fasten Seatbelts switches, knowing they serve to real purpose in the simother that the visual switch position and chime, with the toggling of a couple switches on my Saitek Throttle Quadrant through FSUIPC.
</p>

<p>
	The commands are not in FSX by default, so are not availabvle as FS cointrol selections in FSUIPC. I tried logging the switch activity with FSUIPC but no information was gathered. (Maybe I was using this feature wrong).
</p>

<p>
	Has anyone managed to program hardware buttons to switch activity in the Carenado Grand Caravan EX (or other Caravan aircraft perhaps) through FSUIPC? If so, I would happily take anyone's adice on how to do it.
</p>

<p>
	EDIT: Notice also an inability to set the fuel selector switches on/off through FSUIPC using the Fuel Selector options in FSUIPC's FSX command list.

<p>
	Hi, I purchased <a href="https://www.aerosoft.com/us/flight-simulation/flight-simulator-x-steam/aircraft/408/carenado-c208b-grand-caravan-fsx/p3d" rel="external nofollow">the aircraft in the Aerosoft website</a> and I found these problems:
</p>

<ol><li>
		Respecting the battery start-up checklist engine not start.
	</li>
	<li>
		Starting the engine with the CTRL + E keys, sometimes the aircraft, <u>with the parking brake set and the throttle at idle</u>, starts rolling and cannot be stopped.
	</li>
	<li>
		During taxi the speed is too high, even with a minimum of throttle (&gt; 20 knots)
	</li>
	<li>
		From the checklist: "<em>Fire detector test: Press</em>" (cannot be pressed)
	</li>
	<li>

	</li>
</ol><p>
	Could I have your help? Thanks.

	I know there are skins for the cargomaster, but I haven't been able to get the gtn mod to work in that variant. I have the gtn mod working the in the ex, but I can't find a fedex repaint anywhere. Anyone know of one?

<p>
	I have the Carenado C208B Grand Caravan EX package installed into FSX. From a cold and dark scenario on the ground, after selecting "Static elements" from the INFO panel (SHIFT-5), the image does not update accordingly. No chocks, no pitot covers.
</p>

<p>
	Is anyone able to suggest a possible cause and perhaps a solution?

<p>
	Recently purchased Carenado 208B V1.1 to use with X-plane.  When calibrating the quadrant controls, the throttle will not work although it will go into full reverse...
</p>

<p>
	The quadrant controls work OK in the other default aircraft.. I have selected the Saitek default calibration but no success..
</p>

<p>
	The propeller control and fuel condition lever work OK...
</p>

<p>
	Any thoughts.....

<p>Hi, I was a user of V1 and recently installed V2 after a while away but I cannot work out how to use the ALT and V/S modes in Autopilot.  In V1 I would just set my desired altitude using the ALT SEL knob, turn on Auto Pilot, press ALT and it would go to that altitude and I could change the ROC/D by adjusting the V/S slider.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Now in V2 this is a bit different and I really don't know how to use it, and the manuals as usual from Carenado suck.  Can anyone help?  Specifically setting an altitude and automatically flying there and then holding it.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Thanks!</p>
