This is from a post over at SOH by Priller:

	Hi People,

I'm from the dark side that is MSFS2020, but I have some sad news to convey.

My dear friend of over 30 years, Claude, Navtech for you people, has passed away today at only 75. He was just the nicest person you could imagine.

He did a whole career as an officer of the merchant navy of our country, he was an officer and a gentleman, without the Hollywood pizzaz.

I'm heartbroken. But at least he didn't suffer.

I was saddened to learn about the passing of Ilan Papini, the creator of many different sims over the years that revolved around planes and boats.
Those of you that have been around for quite some time will remember him from Hangsim, Virtual Sailor and Vehicle Simulator amongst other titles.
I have exchanged multiple emails with Ilan over the years and was always impressed by the way he listened to customer feedback and tried to incorporate it in next revisions.

Ilan passed away doing with he loved the most - flying a small plane.
A bird strike with an eagle unfortunately ended this flight forever.

My friend Nick Needham aka NickN has passed. He will be sorely missed. He could be brusque but , if you listened, he always had solid information on software and hardware. He was a master at overclocking and many things. He didn't flaunt it much but he had a Phd in Electrical Engineering and was a respected member of the NASA team.

Farewell my friend - "I am the stuff stars are made of"

	Good Day All,

I'm not sure how many of you may already be aware but I thought I'd let this community know, Roman passed away yesterday morning after a fight with cancer. I have been absent myself for quite a while so I am not too sure how many of you knew what Roman was dealing with or that he may have not been doing well.

Perhaps in the new year we can plan a memorial flight in his honor.

Don Grovestine has passed away on August 3rd 2022.

He was a creator for a lot of tools to make our hobby and Flightsim experience better. Not only AIFP, but also a couple of helpers for Terrain and development.

In 2008 he creates AIFP, truly a revolution in AI flight planning. AIFP helped us to create an overall realistic AI experience in the Flightsim, supporting FS9 over FSX to P3D and lastly MSFS.

Over at Alpha India Group forums he provided the support for AIFP since Nov. 2010, reachable for all of us, regardless for a quick fix or a possibility of a new feature.

We all will greatly miss him. Thank you for all of your work, Don. Blue skies and fair winds for you.

My deepest condolences to his family.

	All,

I'm sad to announce @Jim Young passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020.

Jim has been an AVSIM member, volunteer, and board member for nearly two decades. He lived a life of service to the United States of America as an intelligence officer. He was dedicated to help others enjoy flight simulation as much as he did and authored and revised two prominent AVSIM publications: The Crash to Desktop Guide and the Basic FSX Configuration Guide. These guides have helped tens of thousands of people to date and will continue to help our readers. Thus, Jim's legacy will live on through our memories, his posts, and his publications.

I got the chance to meet Jim on a few occasions and know he loved his Corvette and to golf. Jim also loved this community and was a good friend of Tom Allensworth. I can only imagine Tom was there to welcome Jim through the pearly gates, especially for his role in ensuring AVSIM's future after Tom's sudden passing in 2015.

Jim will be missed. No more pain, my friend... rest easy.

I've been very reluctant to post this because I have no definitive evidence of his death. But Ron Ginsberg (ronzie) has not posted in the Radar Contact forum since September 2019. He was an active helper regarding Radar Contact so I have to assume the worst. He lost his wife a few years ago so it's possible none of his family (assuming he had any) knew to let anyone here know.

I'm sure if John Dekker or Doug Thompson had been told they would have let me know. But there's been nothing.

So thank you Ron for all the help you gave to RC users over the years. I'm sure I'm not alone in being appreciative of his expertise as he would have helped a lot of people here at AvSim.

It is with much sadness that I have to report that John B. Loney, Jr passed away in a Newark, NJ hospital on 17 July 2019, after a brief illness. He will sadly be missed by all of his relatives, friends and Flight Simmers.

He was 77 and is survived by his wife, Frieda, and his daughter, Karen.

	The funeral info is:

	Home going Service for
John B Loney Jr.
Friday, July 26th
9am-11am viewing: Service at 11am
Zion Hill Baptist Church
152 Osborne Terrace
Newark, NJ 07112

John started developing scenery for his own purposes with FS5 but it wasn't until FS2002 that he published a scenery for the first time (December, 2002)

As of today there are 270 files in the Library that are shown by a search of his name.

He became an X-Ray Technician while serving in the army and upon discharge, he worked in that field at a major medical center in NJ. After 22 years in that position, He became a Cardiac Technician at NewarkBethIsraelMedicalCenter and worked in that position until he retired in 2003. However even flight sim could not fill the void left by retirement so he returned to the hospital as a per diem employee working with heart failure and post heart transplant patients. He worked for 48th years at the same hospital.

He chatted on Skype with a group of fellow FSimmers and friends.
