after decades of flight sims (every single one of them) i came to love ms flight after it came out.

business concerns killed my sim flying (and everything else) for several years

i'm starting to take some time for myself now and just rigged a new gaming laptop with flight. i'd love to find the alaska addon but it seems ms has abandoned flight as it did fsx.

i did not have any dlc when i was flying flight the first time.

any ideas if/how i can get the alaska dlc? i'd gladly pay for it.

	thanks

I bought all the content of microsoft flight 2012 and now I have a new computer (my old one crashed) and I read that I could download alaska from the toolkit addon manager and I don't see this option.

Can anybody tell me now in 2021 how I can download the alaska and my bought aircrafts?

	Thank you

I have a question on flying a repainted plane in free flight mode. When flying into an area where a group of flyers are located what do they see when viewing my plane. Is it the repainted one, the original, or something else?

Also, I see some planes that look like weird stealth planes resembling a paper airplane.

I just got the PMDG 737 and though I haven't had the time to read the manual (and I've never used an FMS before today), I was easily able to get it to autoland on IFR approaches.

My question is, would it be possible to automate the entire flight? Landing this plane is pretty automatic - the plane flares and touches down by itself and autobrakes and armed spoilers stop it without pilot intervention.

So here are my specific questions:

1. Is there a way to automate takeoff? On stock FSX planes you can just set the autothrottle and engage the altitude hold and the plane will rotate and take off (without stalling if you're lucky). Is there a way to get the PMDG to auto rotate at Vr for example? So far my understanding is that the AP in this plane can't be activated until airborne...

2. I noticed the autopilot has a VNAV button. Before I dive into the 130-page manual, can someone tell me whether this is capable of transitioning from climb to cruise to descent to touchdown without pilot intervention?

3. Last question - can all these be chained together wihout pilot input? For example, imagine there's a pressurisation failure and both pilots lose consciousness during the climb stage. Can the plane be set up in such a way (before the incident) that the plane continues the rest of the flight completely on its own and safely touches down and stops at the planned destination airport? (assuming traffic gets out of the way and ILS freq and crs heading were already set up and approach already programmed, and autobrakes on and spoilers armed)

Edit: I meant to post this to the FSX forum. Can it be moved there please?

So what am I doing or not doing wrong?

First, let's get back to Caesar what belongs to Caesar : the idea of the Iditarod's flight is not mine. Stephan aka Duesselwings had the idea of making this thanks to a post that was started on Steam. You can find the thread here.

http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=2785849

Stephan decided to make this race as a flightplan, with the use of Plan-G and Gmap. I must say all this could not have been done with all the feedback, advices, tricks & tests we have been seeing around here, and I want to thanks the community of Flight's pilots whose help is really appreciated :Applause:

The meeting time was friday, the 6th, departure at PANC, Anchorage. Plane : the Cub (and after my initial grunt, it was a good choice I must say). Lenght of flightplan is 859NM, last airport is Nome.

You can find a copy of the file used for the route there.

As there was some problems with the Live, it was a bit complicated to start on time alltogether. And as I had a surprising visit from a friend passing by late, I had to interrupt the flight after a landing at Tin Creek, with a persistent 12kts crosswinds and 45ft hight pines all around the place, trust me is was a hard landing even with the Cub !.

Another thing that is still a bit complicated when you want to use Gmap is that the screenshot key ("V") is not working anymore. So I have very few pics, only some on the ground just before I left, after around 4hrs of flying, fun water skying, being just "Wow" when we saw a big bridge in the middle of nowhere, travelled a snowy passage, changed weather 3 times (really sounds like Alaska !)...

If any of the other pilots could post their pictures here they are welcome

This is advertised on Xbox.com which attracts awful children. I am speaking the opposite of "nice children" which there have been some of also and don't care because they have manners.Anyone who has ever played multiplayer games on Xbox probably already knows what I encountered yesterday because multiplayer games on Xbox are over populated with these kind of children. Children with the mouths and vocabulary of a sailor, screaming on mic, cutting people off on mic with no regard to anyone they don't know. My biggest fears came true yesterday. One MP session had kids dropping the f-bomb like crazy and generally having no real interest in flight simulation in general but only on it because "I saw dis ____ on Xbox.com and it was free yo.. " Cutting people off in conversation, cursing, you name it. Then a second multiplayer session I had a 10 year old tell me to go eff myself and called me another name for a donkey that has three letters in it because I wouldn't "slow down" for him.Advice.. Get your friends circle going now if you haven't.. I'll be going friends only MP sessions soon if I run into any more of these type of MP crowds which I undoubtly will because Xbox is completely littered with these type of children. I can tolerate immaturity and `kids being kids' but not these type..

Voice

Wondering how some of ya guys set the ingame voice to work so well.I can't get mine to work worth crap in GFWL but it works find on TS and Vent.Any tips would be great.

Looking for Mplayer fun

I downloaded this game almost two weeks ago and after a few days of enjoying it I purchased the Hawaii pack. I've been playing a lot and have enjoyed the fun multiplayer experiences I've had. Finally getting good enough now that I can perform maneuvers to get away from the people who just try to collide into me. I saw those pictures from the group flight and that looks like a lot of fun, I'd love to get in on that. I am a little bummed that there are so few aircraft and most of the ones they are adding are warfighters. I prefer more civilian type aircraft. Have we heard anything about what the Alaska DLC is going to include?

Anywho, glad to see there is a community for this game so I look forward to seeing some of you online.

I was wondering if it's possible to use headphones when flying FS multiplayer sessions to communicate. My brother and I fly in multiplayer on weekends. My computer is downstairs and he is upstairs. We now use radios to communicate with each other but we thought it would be much more realistic to use headphones with mics and being able to communicate through our headphones instead of using our radios. This way, we won't have to replace the batteries every 3 weeks or so. If this is possible, how would we go about setting up the computer to key up the mic, maybe pressing a key on the keyboard, so that one can communicate with the other? Is there software that will allow us to do this? We do have a router and we both are running Windows 7.

In multiplayer mode I cannot use the Player Pointer function. I am using the default keyboard mapping of "[" and "]", but nothing happens when I press either key.

I may be misunderstanding a setting or perhaps even how to participate in multiplayer sessions. Here's what I do:

Click on Multiplayer

Click on Quick Match until I find a session with a few people in it

Click on people to find a similar aircraft

Check the box to target the player

Press M to begin flying

Press ]	...and nothing happens

The simulation runs fine, with no problems with controls or cameras; only the player pointer commands don't work.

I've set my Xbox settings to be wide open, and I've opened the recommended ports in my router.

I had a blast flying with Kaloyanic's flight group. We flew from Lanai to Molokai to Oahu and then on to Kauai (well I actually had to tuck my kids in and I caught up with them at Bellows, Oahu). At the end of the flight we flew one more time to Barking Sands on Kauai and there a buch of Zeros performed a great airshow. I recorded the whole flight with FRAPS and took screenshots.
Just the other night (before the release of the update) we had a mock dogfight between the A6M's and the Mustangs. At one point there were probably 3-4 Zero's and 3-4 Mustangs. Obviously no guns but it was still fun. The host server had the atmosphere on Dusk. One thing I did notice. When in a high G turn with full rudder deflection the Zero stalls and falls really fast. So you see me doing that a few times.

I did by the A6M Zero because it's my 7 year old son's favorite plane. It only cost me $4.99 because I already had 400 MS points to put towards it.

My favorite plane so far is the Maule.

Hello Everyone,While Microsoft Flight is not the most realistic flight sim experience out there I find it to be quite adequate for practicing most flight maneuvers that are required to get a private pilots license. I am currently taking lessons and I try to use flight at least 2 hours a day on weekdays and 2-4 on weekends.I am curious if there are any other student pilots or MS Flight players who would be interested in reviewing and practicing maneuvers (and other essential piloting skills) together. We could take turns going over the maneuver, doing them together, and self-critiquing what we did wrong and discuss (as a group) how to improve.Anyone who is currently a student pilot or is thinking of starting their training could learn a lot from each other. I am very eager to learn from anyone who has knowledge to offer and I feel like a lot of student pilots are the same way. Doing this together will help us all learn, help with motivation, potentially save some money, and ultimately make us all better pilots.I am typically on during the nights. (2 hrs sometime between 8 and midnight est). My gamertag is gucommander. Post in this thread and add me on XBL if your interested. If there is sufficient interest I will start setting up "official events" for this.Maneuvers we would be practicing:

Pre-maneuver checklist

Steep Turns

Power on Stall

Power off Stall

Slow Flight

S Turns

Turns around a Point

Rectangular Course (I just practice this while doing touch and gos in the traffic pattern)

Essential Flight Skills

Normal and Crosswind takeoffs and landings

Emergency Engine Out Procedures

Traffic Patterns

Radio (I would LOVE someone to practice the radio with...)

Night Flying

Basic Instruments

Maintaining Straight and Level flight (Altitude is a I TRIED TO USE A PROFANITY HERE - AREN'T I STUPID! even with trim...)

Cross Country Flights (Includes flight planning and VOR)

Taxiing (This ones a bit hard due to the issues with breaking in MS Flight. i'm sure they will be fixed eventually)
