Is it the case in RL that this aircraft's landing light(s) are located on the nose wheel and the taxi lights are located on the wings? This is backwards, to my way of thinking, yet this is what I observed last night in preparing for a night flight out of KMRY Monterey. Can someone perhaps point me to a fix that's been posted, or perhaps a correction someplace in the aircraft.cfg, please?

I get aligned properly on GPS track using heading, then click NAV on autopilot (with or without HDG mode on) and plane will not track GPS. Sometimes even circling or heading back to original airport.

Am I the only one with this problem, or am I doing something wrong ? I love this aircraft, but can only follow GPS track using HDG mode.

Can anyone help ? I am not a Newby.

Edit: Finally got AP to track GPS, but ONLY if on track and on proper heading. Looking at the AP .pdf file, I did see that AP would track GPS NAV " Once the course is caught, the AP will hold it.".So NO to intercepting GPS track when off-track. To bad, makes it complicated and attention consuming.

Just purchased the TP46, and I cannot get this Garmin 500 to update within one minute of changing zoom levels, and the thing just flat doesn't update the screen, at all, after 30 minutes, unless you cycle the screens. Is anyone else experiencing this, or do you have a work around?

On another train of thought, has anyone gotten the F1 G500 suite to mount up and fly right with this bird? I shoehorned the GTN into this bird's available screens, but I would like to know if anyone else has tried the G500 in it.

I'm also getting CTD's with this plane for .dll errors. Anyone else experiencing? Thanks.

The Malibu starts up with the default GPS and wants you to go to the configuration windowevery time you start up the plane, to select the RXP gauges..If you would like to make this choice permanent, this is how you do it..First of all, make sure the RXP gauges are installed and working in the Malibu. Then, create a text file with this content

<Gauge Name="Control_init" Version="1.0"><!-- RXP gauges --> <Element> <Select> <Value> (L:ControlInit,bool) 1 != if{ 1 (>L:SWGPS530XPVIS,bool) 1 (>L:SWGPS430XPVIS,bool) 1 (>L:ControlInit,bool) } </Value> </Select> </Element></Gauge>

call this file Control_Init.xml and put it in a new subfolderto your panel folder, named Controls. Then edit your panel.cfg file, by adding one line[Vcockpit01].....gauge07=Controls!Control_init, 0,0,1,1If you only have one RXP gauge, try deleting the GPSXXXVIS line that does not apply.

I have the Carenado PA46T JetProp which I love for its design and appealing cockpit, except it is difficult to see with plain eyes unless zooming in. Now that my CH Yoke and Saitek TQ have come out of maintenance I was taking it for a ride. I have a two monitor setup, my main 21" monitor has the main VC and I clicked on the Garmin MFD and undocked it to the secondary (lower resolution) monitor.

While flying to an ILS runway I was monitoring both the MFD/GPS on the main monitor (VC) as well as the bigger MFD/GPS on the secondary monitor. At first, I noticed something strange but then I realized it was a BUG!

What happens in this setup is that the MFD/GPS on the secondary monitor (the undocked version) works and updates well; However, the GPS screen portion of the MFD on the main monitor (the VC, the one on the actual dashboard) is simply NOT updating the GPS screen. As you can see on the GPS portion of the MFDs:

There is no facility to upload images or post image links here so here is the picture URL:
https://1drv.ms/i/s!AF_p5iNITKDLswI

I this screenshot you can see the VC on my main monitor on the left and the docked window (MGF/GPS) on the second monitor (right side of the picture). Therein I have also added two helpers:

A green arrow indicating the direction of the ILS glide path in case you cannot see it well

A red arrow pointing to the shown location of the aircraft on the GPS screen

As you can see the un-docked Garmin on the right monitor is showing the a/c in the correct/actual location nearly about to land; yet the GPS screen on the VC (main monitor) is way out of sync showing the a/c at the entry point of the glide slope!

The MFD part however (airspeed/altitude stripes and Horizontal Situation Indicator) were okay on both.

I hope a patch is released for this.

A question out of curiosity: Everywhere I read about the PA46T, the articles indicate the 46T should cruise over 200+ knots. The Carenado model over-speeds between 170 to 180.

	Any reason for this??

I have sent Carenado 20 some emails for help. They say it will install in V3, but I am unable to get it to do so. Anyone else had any luck.

these instructions from them are not valid .... no PI1300.exe file in download and this appears to be for FSX

HELP!

Steps for installing Carenado PA46T Malibu JetProp HD Series FSX/P3D:

1.- Unzip the downloaded file and put the "PI1300X.exe" file in the desktop.

2.- Double click on that file (it is an auto installer).

3.- When prompted for the Username and Serial, type the information provided by email or in the last screen of the purchase process.

4.- The installation should take less than a minute.

Important: First time you use the aircraft in FSX you may be prompted to “Run” or “Don't Run” by the Microsoft Security Alert System, just ignore it and click “Run” to install the gauges. Then click on “Yes” in the next dialog window. Repeat this sequence every time that windows appear (this will depend on how many gauges has the aircraft)

All the documents are inside a folder called “Carenado” which is in the FSX root folder.

Graphic design is nearly perfect, 3D panel is one of the best I've seen and aerodynamics are quite near the real thing.Congratulations! You guys did a great job.But as a real world Jetprop pilot, I was very disapointed by the systems and the avionics behaviour. They are far far away from the real thing. I prepared a list of most critical items. I'm sure that those problems can be solved easely.-Condition lever: Only ON or OFF. You can't adjust the condition in the real plane.-Prop governor switch not active: when you push it @ 2000rpm, there should be a drop of about 200rpm. Made for propeller governor testing purpose. Spring loaded.-Emergency fuel valve not working. Should cut fuel flow to the engine.-Thrust reverser lever not animated.-Flaps working with master off.-Manual overide not working.-Cabin depress lever not working. Dump cabin working.-Emergency gear extension not working.-Gear position indicators illuminated with master off.-Ice door swith should be a spring loaded 3 position switch. You need to keep it pressed for 3-5 seconds in either way for the door to operate. Open or close light should appear when the maneuver is complete. When ice door is on, torque decreses about 150 lbs at max power. No EGT change. Ice door light stay off whatever the switch position is. Exactly the same with the oil door switch and indicator.-Sounds of FD switch, gear lever, etc... when master is off.-Ground clearance switch should power the nav1/com1 as well as the audio selector.-Audio box on with master off and ground clearance off.-XPDR1 on with radio master off. No off button on it.-Manual overide light should comme on when pressing it with master on. Spring loaded.-In manual fuel mode, the wing tanks pumps should be earable when switching from off to left/right fuel selector.-Ignition on light should be off when the ignition switch is on and the condition lever is off. It lights only when you advance the condition lever. In auto ignition mode, the ignition light should come on only with power lever below 70/100.-wing fuel pump indicator light should stay off with engine fuel pump 1 or 2 on. This light only come on when fuel is taken from the wing tanks to the header tank. Either in manual fuel mode or auto fuel mode.-Fuel mode switch is a three way switch with off in the middle.-Gen light stays green with gen deconnected.-Starter should stabilize Ng at or above 15/100.-no bus voltage drop with starter on. Should drop 3-4 volts.-Engine can be started with ignition off.-Standy alt amps indicator positive with alt alternator disconected.-Procedure is to recharge the battery 1 and 2 after start up with standy alternator and gen off.. The standby amps indicator should deacrease from about 50 amps to 20 amps and stabilize when switching from each battery with alt alternator on. The master gen cannot recharge the batteries.-Engine can be started with engine fuel pump off.-Stanby alt inhibits the master gen when it is on. Green gen light come on when you shut off the -standy alt with the gen switch on.-SIBAS is the after start checklist: Starter off, Ignition off, Battery on 1, standby alt on, (battery on 2, wait for recharge, batt both, standby alt off, check gen green light on when gen switch on) shadin on tq/egt.-Proppeler heat behavior: on theground, with the prop heat switch on, the prop amps stays at zero. On the ground, when pushing the prop test button on the prop amps indicator, it should rise to the green zone and return to zero when the test switch is realeased. In the air, when prop heat is set to on, the prop amps rises and main amps indicator rises 40 amps.-No correlation beetween electrical consumers and master amp indicator except master avionics.-With prop heat on, the indicator on the warning panel is "select deice". It should be "surface deice" in white.-Surface deice switch should light the surface deice on the main annuciator.-Yaw damper is a three way switch. It shoud be reading off when in auto mode on the ground and on in the air. In on mode, it should always stays on. Off position is in the middle.-Go around button on the power lever missing.-Master fuel pump sound much too high.-Fuel tank selector in off position shut down the engine. It should only select the wing tank to replenish the header tank in auto or manual fuel mode.-Standy altimeter should be setable below 0ft.-Vs selection on G500 limited to 2000 ft/min.-power should be limited by egt at about 10000ft.-Green gear lights stays on when gear is up.-Fuel flow should read around 20lbs/h at idle on the ground.-Egt temperatures are way too low.-App mode not working correctly with ILS.-Taxi lights switch is a three way with off in the middle.I've not been to much into avionics as I don't have the realityXP package. I'll soon buy it, try and let you know.Wish you all the best and thanks again for this great product!Amalric Decotte

Clock & ETM gauges

As many of you know on the pilot's side almost obscured by the yoke there is a clock gauge. I was curious and looked it up, it turns out the gauge is the FlightCom DVR 300i clock & recorder. It records radio transmissions, useful when your mind isn't flexible enough for long clearances It also has a clock and elapsed timer that work from the moment the gauge is turned on (I think that is powered by the Avionics button?)

In the PA46T from Carenado this gauge is only switching between Zulu (24 hrs format) and Local (12 hrs format) time and nothing else that I know of, a crippled gauge.

For more information on its real counterpart visit http://www.manualslib.com/products/Flightcom-Dvr-300i-3554237.html

As for the Engine Trend Monitor (ETM) it is located on the copilot's side to the left of the yoke (like the clock on the pilot's side). It is manufactured by Shadin. The implemented gauge has several pages with useful information, obviously not as much as the real instrument.

The pilot's manual for this (real) gauge can be found at:

There are some things I don't like about the stability of this a/c and Carenado does not seem to do anything about it.

It is very difficult to get this plane stable, especially during climb. But the Autopilot is worse, it does not seem to work.

1. I clicked on the AP/FD switch until both AP and FD show as ON

2. I put the a/c on a climb to 6,000 feet and when I reach the cruise altitude I clicked on the AVSS ALT button, the LCD of the AVSS shows the ALT label.

Now, it is supposed to hold the altitude it had at the moment the button was pressed (6,000 ft) but it just keeps climbing and responding to the yoke if I choose to move it.

The VS also does not seem to work and is ambiguous in the sense that if it shows 6.8 you don't know if that is 6.8 ft/min or 680 ft/min or what. It also does not seem to respond to that either.
